Farewell to David Alaba: Carvajal Offers Replacement and Florentino Accepts, Confirmed

Aymeric Laporte's name is back on the scene: Florentino sets one condition and he can arrive in January.

Florentino Pérez continues to search for a center-back for Real Madrid, but so far he hasn't found the profile he so liked. On the table is again the possibility of reinforcing the defense with a top-level, veteran player who wears the Spanish jersey: Aymeric Laporte.

Laporte has experience in Spain at the highest level, but right now he's playing for Al-Nassr. Last summer he was offered the chance to play for Real Madrid, but Florentino rejected it due to his high price. The idea was also to reinforce defense with a player with a better future, that is, a promising youngster.

However, the search in the market is not bearing the fruits that Florentino expected. The profile that was so desired can't be found and the reality is that the option of Aymeric Laporte is gaining importance again. He would arrive knowing first-hand his role as a secondary player, with the intention of contributing from the first moment.

Aymeric Laporte: Florentino Sets a Condition

What Florentino is clear about is that Aymeric Laporte will only come to Real Madrid if he doesn't have to pay a single euro for his transfer. What the president wants is for the Spanish center-back to terminate his contract with Al-Nassr. That way he would arrive on a free transfer and forfeiting the 50 million euros he still has to earn in two years.

Laporte is willing to do so, but he knows it will be difficult. He tried that on more than one occasion last summer, but Al-Nassr didn't give in.

In addition to giving up the 50 million euros he still has to earn in Saudi Arabia, Aymeric Laporte is willing to take a considerable pay cut to play for Madrid. Out of the 25 million euros he earns net per season, he could reduce his salary to 5 million euros tax-free.

David Alaba: a Difficult Return

David Alaba's injury hasn't shown much improvement and Madrid wants to find a reliable replacement. The chosen one would be Aymeric Laporte, who would also leave room for the youth team player Joan Martínez, who's coming in from behind with a strong presence.

In any case, what Florentino is clear about is that he wants a center-back immediately and he really likes the option that Carvajal has put on the table. Laporte meets many requirements and is a name to keep in mind. That is, as long as the conditions set by the president of Real Madrid are met.
