At Barça, there's intense work to settle a series of planned operations before the winter market ends.
1.-Araújo's Future
It's been decided that Ronald Araújo won't leave Barça this winter market. However, the question remains whether his stay will be until June 30 or if he'll renew until 2032, as announced.
What is certain is that the club will try by all means to renew and extend his contract. Whether it's to stay many years at Camp Nou or to have more bargaining power when negotiating his transfer.
His performance until June 30 will be decisive. The negotiation for his renewal is progressing well, but both parties are waiting to make the official announcement. Araújo's contract ends in 2026, and Laporta and Flick want to renew it until 2032.
Juventus is still waiting for news in case the agreement doesn't take place.
2.-Ansu Fati is Leaving No Matter What
He won't go to Sevilla, as agreed, but Ansu Fati won't stay at Barça. He doesn't provide the extra boost Hansi Flick needs in the attack and it's not good for him to remain stagnant at Barça.
Fati is above the average level in the salary scale: 13 million euros. Laporta doesn't want to pay a substitute's substitute a millionaire salary. Deco is working intensely with Jorge Mendes to find him a destination.
However, Fati isn't cooperating and prefers to stay. He wanted to go to Sevilla, then Betis emerged, but the green-and-white club isn't in a position to honor his contract. Nothing would make him happier than returning to Sevilla, but he'll have to find a new team.
3.-Marcus Rashford Depends on Two Departures
Marcus Rashford, the English international star from Manchester United currently at odds with his club and new coach, could arrive on loan until the end of the season.
The player is very excited about the possibility of wearing the blaugrana jersey. Manchester United blesses the operation. They only require Barça to pay the proportional part of his salary (he earns 18 million gross per year).
Flick sees him as the ideal alternative for the rotations of Lamine Yamal and Ansu Fati. The three would share the minutes. He sees in him the tough competition his two stars need, so far without anyone challenging them.
Barça needs Ansu Fati and another player to leave the club to register Rashford on loan until the end of the season. Then a decision would be made based on his performance.
4.-Eric García Will Leave
Of those two players Barça needs to remove from their team, one is Ansu Fati; the other one is Eric García.
Barça is negotiating with Girona for a loan with a purchase option next summer. The problem is that Girona, making an effort, can't go beyond 10 million.
Girona would be delighted to welcome him back. Eric García—if he has to leave Barça—would prefer to return to Girona, where he had a great season last year.
Flick is very satisfied with the player's performance and attitude. However, he's well-stocked with central defenders and, if there's no other choice, he'll accept his departure.
The problem is that all negotiations are slow, and we'll have to wait for the final buzzer at midnight on February 3. As happened with Luuk De Jong, Rashford could land at Camp Nou on the night of February 3.
Rashford is the only novelty FC Barcelona expects and desires for this winter market. It would be a top addition, although two players must leave the club first.
