Surprise! Tomás Roncero announces the player he'd sign from Barça: 'One of ours'

Roncero surprises everyone with the FC Barcelona footballer he would sign for Real Madrid: nobody expected it

Tomás Roncero has spoken in recent hours. The famous journalist, a well-known supporter of Real Madrid, hasn't held back when faced with a key question. During a live broadcast of "AS", he was asked about the Barça footballer he would sign to play at Santiago Bernabéu. In fact, his answer has surprised both celebrities and outsiders, as he chose one of FC Barcelona's least high-profile players.

"He is one of ours"

Roncero didn't hesitate, choosing one of Hansi Flick's usual impact substitutes. Instead of going for big names like Lamine Yamal or Pedri, the journalist opted for someone with "warrior spirit" and "fighting spirit": Fermín López.

"I'll name a player who's going to surprise you, but I love him. Because of his warrior spirit, because of who he is, he has a fighting spirit that I like, he can score... His name is Fermín. I like Fermín, and on top of that, Flick always keeps him on the bench. He could fit in. There's no one in Madrid who's untouchable.  I insist, he has a fighting spirit: he's one of ours," he said.

Fermín would fit perfectly into Xabi Alonso's system, appearing from deep in an attacking midfielder role. He gets forward a lot and can score, something Real Madrid needed last season. Initially, this was reserved for Bellingham, but the Englishman has ended up becoming more of an old-school midfielder.

In this regard, Tomás Roncero is very clear: if he has to choose someone from Barça, it would be Fermín López.

Impossible signing

The relationship between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona is one of the most intense rivalries in world soccer. Beyond the Clásicos that bring the planet to a standstill, both clubs keep a historic competition that goes far beyond the field. That's why thinking about a transfer agreement between both entities is simply impossible

In this context, Tomás Roncero's recent words have caused a stir. The Madridist journalist would sign Fermín López for Real Madrid without hesitation. However, that option doesn't have the slightest chance. Fermín is one of Barça's great gems, he has a contract until 2029 and his release clause stands at €500 million. An insurmountable wall.

From Barcelona, Roncero's statements are seen as a provocation, while in Madrid many admit that, despite the rivalry, Fermín is an extraordinary talent. But the reality is that neither Real Madrid nor Barça are considering strengthening each other. The last direct deal between both clubs dates back decades, and nothing suggests that trend will change.

The two giants of Spanish soccer compete for everything: titles, signings, audience, and prestige. In that context, sharing players is a red line that neither is willing to cross. Therefore, any rumor suggesting a transfer between Madrid and Barça is pure fiction. Even more so if it's about one of La Masia's pearls.
