Madrid Beats Leganés and Carlo Ancelotti Says it to His Face: ‘Thank You but…’

Real Madrid wins and adds three key points in the fight for LaLiga

Ancelotti's Real Madrid has achieved an important victory against Leganés at Santiago Bernabéu by 3 to 2. The match has served for the whites to show their ability to overcome and to turn around an adverse result. In this sense, it has been very positive for the club's aspirations to win the LaLiga title, putting pressure on Barcelona.

On a sporting level, Ancelotti's team didn't show their best version: somewhat slow soccer and having to swim against the tide. Leganés, as always in these matches, showed a tough-to-beat soccer and with a lot of desire to get the three points. Despite everything, good news kept coming: victory, no injuries, and keeping LaLiga very much in contention.

Madrid wins with Mbappé's double

The first half of the Real Madrid-Leganés served for Ancelotti's team to know precisely what they shouldn't do. The Italian came out with a line-up full of rotations, with Arda Güler as a starter. Despite the bad feelings in the first 45 minutes, Mbappé opened the scoring from the penalty spot, in a controversial referee intervention.

The joy didn't last long for Ancelotti's team, conceding the equalizing goal in the next play through Diego, and going into halftime trailing. The Italian coach wasn't happy at all with the first half. He send a tough message behind closed doors to the locker room, which served to get them fired up.

Bellingham scored after the break, while Mbappé, from a direct free kick in the 76th minute, scored the third and decisive goal for Madrid. This 3 to 2 serves to take three very important points in the fight for the domestic championship, against an always challenging Leganés.

Arda Güler: Thanks and goodbye

The big news in Ancelotti's line-up was the starting presence of the Turkish Arda Güler. Although he put in the effort, he didn't quite convince the Real Madrid coach, who substituted him in the second half. Güler forced the penalty that Mbappé scored, but he didn't do much more during the match.

Initially, Ancelotti's idea is to give Arda Güler the opportunity in lower-level matches, like this one against Leganés. He doesn't have much confidence in him and has already told him when substituting him: "Thanks, but I had to do it". In his place came the starter and important player, Rodrygo Goes, who enjoyed a small rest.

The most likely scenario for Arda Güler is a departure from Madrid in the summer transfer market. This would happen especially if Ancelotti remains on the bench at Santiago Bernabéu.
