Guti used his participation last night on the TV show El Chiringuito to give Kylian Mbappé advice based on his experience.
His decision to refuse to take the penalty against Getafe has put him in the firing line after admitting to psychological problems.
Mbappé's arrival at a star-flooded team has changed his position regarding his leadership role at PSG.
"He is Not Blamed in Liverpool for Missing the Penalty"
"Mbappé has to break with this insecurity now. And it can be broken, for example, by taking a penalty. If I miss a penalty I take the ball and take it again. Nothing happens if I miss a penalty."
The former footballer and now analyst on El Chiringuito reminded Mbappé: "In Liverpool you are not pointed for missing a penalty. Kylian is pointed at because we all expected more from him."
"Taking that penalty makes you stronger... It's not mandatory. It's about showing that attitutde of wanting to take on the world," said Guti.
He added: "I agree with Cristiano that taking another penalty after a mistake makes you stronger." Guti admitted that "not taking a penalty shows that he has problems and he has to overcome this insecurity."
"He takes it against Getafe and misses: Nothing happens. And if Vinícius is not there, I take the ball again." This is Guti's reasoning.
Josep Pedrerol's Version
Josep Pedrerol denies cowardice in the player's attitude: "We are talking about the feeling of insecurity that Mbappé transmits. He can hide that insecurity by refusing to take a penalty."
"But he has to take the penalty. He has to feel it. I admire a player who recognizes that weakness."
"That a footballer, being a leader, recognizes this insecurity means that he's not well and we think that he's recognizing it. He does well as a person who has to recover emotionally."
"The leader Mbappé who arrived at Real Madrid is no longer there. He has arrived at Madrid and that leadership has disappeared."
"Can he be a leader? Surely yes. But he wants to be happy playing soccer, not being a leader who scores seven goals."
