Florentino offers Guti his return to Madrid as coach: this is his response

Real Madrid has offered Guti the chance to return to the club with a coaching offer he did not expect

A few days ago, Guti announced on "El Chiringuito" that he had received a very important offer to return to coaching. At the time, he didn't reveal the team or the decision he had made... Until now, when it has come to light. To everyone's surprise, the offer on the table was from Real Madrid, with Florentino Pérez as the main driving force behind the interest.

Specifically, Real Madrid offered Guti the head coach position of the women's first team, trying to give the section a complete overhaul. In its early years, it hasn't managed to win any titles with David Aznar or Toril in charge. The latter has been dismissed and a high-level replacement hasn't been found yet, with the former footballer on Florentino's list of favorite candidates.

Guti responds: no to Real Madrid

"COPE" has reported that Guti has turned down the offer Florentino made him to return to Real Madrid. The "El Chiringuito" contributor wouldn't be interested in taking charge of a women's soccer team due to his limited knowledge of the sport. The Spanish coach believes that it's a position for which he's not qualified, preferring to keep his distance from it despite it being the club he loves.

Not only has Guti turned down the chance to coach Real Madrid's women's team. The same report indicated that Solari, current football director, and a familiar face like Aitor Karanka have also said NO. Luis García, former coach of the men's C team, has taken a similar stance, having become the new manager of Las Palmas after their relegation to Segunda.

So far, Florentino Pérez is having a lot of trouble finding a replacement for Alberto Toril. All the coaches they're interested in are responding negatively, so the search is proving difficult.

Guti's future

At the moment, it seems unlikely that Guti will return to the bench as a coach. At 48 years old, he hasn't held the position since 2020, when he was dismissed by Almería in Segunda. Having turned down Real Madrid's offer for its women's team, it's hard to imagine he'll get another opportunity at the highest level.

Apparently, right now Guti is focused on his career as a sports commentator, working on "El Chiringuito" or "DAZN." Unless an irresistible offer comes along, that's how things will remain. Because the one Florentino Pérez made for him to return to Madrid wasn't one...
