Xavi Hernández Demands 1 Barça Signing to Coach Leverkusen: 'I'm Taking Him'

Bayer Leverkusen wants the Catalan coach, who sets a key condition to accept the job offer

Xavi Hernández has been waiting for an opportunity that catches his attention since his dismissal from Barcelona, and, after all these months, he seems to have found it. The Catalan  is on Bayer Leverkusen's list of targets to take over from his compatriot Xabi Alonso  on the bench. There have been calls and an approach, according to Madrid-Barcelona, in which various matters of vital importance have been discussed.

Xavi Hernández Makes a Request to Leverkusen

He is interested in the position and would be delighted to coach Leverkusen, but  Xavi Hernández wants several things to be defined before making any decision. There is much  speculation about the departure of Florian Wirtz, a key footballer in the German team. More than 120 million (euros) would be on the table, and they are willing to accept, which is a matter that concerns the former FC Barcelona player.

Xavi Hernández would be delighted to have a player of his characteristics on the team, and he has made one thing clear: if he accepts the position and Wirtz leaves, he demands a signing. He has requested the arrival of a Barça player, a substitute for Hansi Flick: Fermín López. He was the one who gave him his first opportunity in the elite and rescued him from the reserve team when he seemed to be out, fully trusting his qualities.

He made him stand out in his first season with Barça, and  now Fermín López's participation has decreased with Flick. He hopes that, if he gets the position at Leverkusen, they will fulfill his wish and bring the Andalusian attacking midfielder to him.

Fermín López, Xavi Hernández's Favorite

Fermín López has become one of FC Barcelona's great revelations in the last two seasons. The young Andalusian midfielder, who was a personal bet of Xavi Hernández, has proven beyond doubt that he has the level to wear the blaugrana jersey.

His emergence has not been a flash in the pan: this season, under Flick's orders, he has played 40 official matches, scoring 5 goals and providing 9 assists. More than notable numbers for a footballer who combines talent, presence, and sacrifice.

Xavi made him debut in the first team after his loan to Linares, and he did not hesitate to trust him in high-level matches. He was his great supporter and the first to highlight his personality on the field. With Hansi Flick, Fermín López remains important, but less so.

His ability to break lines, his tactical intelligence, and his offensive instinct have made him a valuable piece in the culé machinery. Barça has in Fermín a player with a present... and above all, with a lot of future.
