U-turn: Lewandowski and Two Offers to Leave Barça; KO for Laporta

Robert Lewandowski can leave Barça at his best: he has a clause to renew until 2026.

Lewandowski is having his best moment since arriving at Barça. At 36 years of age, under the guidance of Hansi Flick he's recovered his highest level. So much so that he's become the top scorer in the major European leagues. Everyone is delighted with him at the Catalonian team. Their intention is to execute the renewal clause that exists in his contract, which ends in 2025.

However, El Nacional has discovered that everything could change soon for Lewandowski. Next season he will be 37 years old and he has two important offers on the table to leave Barça in the summer. Specifically, one has come from Saudi Arabia and the other from the United States, to play in the MLS.

In Saudi Arabia, Robert Lewandowski would earn (a lot) more money. Hoewever, he's always been reluctant to go there because of his family life. In the United States, on the other hand, he would earn less, but would have the chance to try out a new life in a country that attracts his attention. What's more, he would also be able to retire in an ever-growing league but with less competition.

Despite these two important proposals, the Pole hasn't decided anything yet. Lewandowski doesn't rule out staying at Barça for at least one more season, executing the renewal clause in his contract, which currently ends in 2025. The challenge of continuing to compete at the highest level motivates him. However, he knows that Laporta is looking for a 9 for the future and he could lose his status as an undisputed starter.

Laporta Finds the Ideal 9 to Replace Lewandowski

Viktor Gyökeres is a striker who has drawn attention for his ability to move freely in the area and his physical strength. At 26, he would be a transfer who would ensure both youth and experience at the highest European level. Barça sees him as a natural successor to Lewandowski who could quickly adapt to Flick's system with a style of play that would fit well into the team.

Barça's board has opted for a preventative approach to its transfers, thus ensuring that the team remains competitive in the long term. With Gyökeres, the club is looking not just for a replacement for Lewandowski but a player who will add value from day one.

It may all depend on what Lewandowski ultimately decides to do, but Laporta has no doubts. If he does end up leaving, his favorite is Gyökeres, even more than Haaland.
