The spokesmen of Florentino Pérez's creed, who spread their gospel beyond Real Madrid TV, are stirred up by Simeone's words.
The Atlético coach hinted that Real Madrid has been cheating for 100 years. It was during a press conference where he was asked about the uncalled penalty for Celta at Bernabéu.
Simeone's Words
"What are you surprised about?" said the Atlético coach. "It's been happening for 100 years."
Those who are now outraged are the same ones who use the Negreira case to justify Barça's successes. Now they show very thin skin when someone questions countless referee decisions that have historically favored Real Madrid.
Simeone knows what he is talking about. He was deprived of two Champions League titles with controversial refereeing in the finals he played against Real Madrid.
Edu Aguirre, following the script set by Josep Pedrerol on his show, lashed out on El Chiringuito against Simeone. He did so, however, saying the same thing that Real Madrid's side on that show uses against Barça.
They have very thin skin. Against Barça, anything goes, but everything must be overlooked for Real Madrid.
The Reply from the Movistar Analyst
This is how Edu Aguirre expressed himself on El Chiringuito:
"What cannot happen is that we let it be implied that there's a club that's been stealing for 100 years. If there's someone who has cheated and tried to deceive the referee and their rivals in their professional career, it's you, Cristóbal Soria, as Sevilla's delegate.
"I don't care about Simeone's opinion on a play. It's part of the routine. However, implying that Real Madrid has been stealing for a hundred years is very unprofessional.
"And it's the ugliest thing I've seen from a great coach like Simeone. It's the ugliest and most degrading thing to imply that Real Madrid has been stealing for 100 years. With the history Madrid has, I find it harmful."
They are the same ones who prematurely claim that Vinícius has won the Ballon d'Or, because they've decided so. They don't tolerate anyone questioning the partially favorable refereeing Real Madrid enjoys.
Moreover, it's not a new issue; it goes way back. However, they are used to covering everything up with their biased interpretation of events.
In their narrative, there's no room for help to Real Madrid... even if it exists.
Against Barça, Anything Goes
They will continue tarnishing Barça's image with Negreira, Ovrebo, or Aytekin. They will continue denying any shadow of suspicion that looms over Real Madrid.
They do it match by match. Penalty in favor of Celta? Not enough contact. Penalty against Barça? There is contact.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid proudly leads the ranking of a list they shouldn't boast about: 9 penalties in favor and 0 against. That was possible without being the team that enters the area the most and scores the most goals.
