Josep Pedrerol has been very energetic against Diego Simeone and his insinuations of Real Madrid's thefts over 100 years.
The Catalan journalist has been very harsh and has urged Florentino Pérez to intervene and stop the Atlético coach. Pedrerol doesn't accept that it be suggested that Real Madrid's history is tainted.
Neither Madrid nor Barça nor Negreira
He has even defended Barcelona, denying that its history could be tainted by the Negreira case. Although he admits that Barça's image has been more damaged by this issue.
This is how the host and director of El Chiringuito expressed himself last night on his show:
"Simeone, Atlético's coach, a great rival of Madrid, accuses Real Madrid of a tainted history. I won't accept that they say Barça's history is tainted by Negreira for 14 years. I can't accept it either.
"No club's history is tainted. We must be careful, although the Negreira issue has harmed Barça's image more."
What Simeone Said about Real Madrid
"However, tainted? Or that a team has stolen for 100 years? It can't be allowed to be said, neither by Simeone nor anyone else.
"If I were Florentino, I'd file a lawsuit against Simeone tomorrow. And I'd make a statement from Real Madrid and respond to Simeone. I defend the club because Simeone says that for 100 years very strange things have happened.
"Florentino has to go after Simeone and tell him: 'that's enough.' Not have Ceballos respond to him."
The controversy arises from a statement by Simeone when asked about the uncalled penalty for Celta during the Real Madrid-Celta match.
The Atlético coach replied: "I didn't see yesterday's game. But I was told there were episodes like there have been for a hundred years. I don't know what surprises them".
Pedrerol is surprised that, for much less, Real Madrid has issued public statements in defense of its image. Real Madrid must say enough to attempts to question a history full of glory and success.
