The 'Secret' Clause in the Contract with Nike: Laporta Closes It - Signs for Barça

Barcelona wants him back and the new contract with Nike helps carry out the operation.

Barça has seen how the new contract with Nike was approved in the assembly without the need to provide many details about it. Gradually, new information is emerging regarding the negotiations with the American multinational as well as some of the clauses in the new agreement. The latest has been quite a surprise, as it might involve the possible return of the youth player Xavi Simons.

Xavi Simons has exploded at just 21 years old, but he doesn't intend to stay where he is. In 2019, he left Barça's youth academy to head to PSG, a club where he has hardly played and has been accumulating loan after loan. Once the current one with RB Leipzig ends, he wants to leave there for good, and a real possibility is his return to FC Barcelona through a transfer.

The "secret" Clause in the Contract with Nike: Laporta Secures Xavi Simons, Signs for Barça

In this new contract with Nike, the intermediary Darren Dein has surprisingly been involved in the negotiations. He was also involved in the sponsorship with Spotify, but in this case, it's surprising given the long-standing relationship with the American brand. It's said that he might have pocketed a hefty bonus of 50 million euros for this deal.

However, this multimillion-dollar bonus wouldn't come "free of charge". Beyond his importance in the negotiations with Nike, a brand with which there has been a relationship for years, there might be another reason behind it. Darren Dein, besides being an intermediary, is also a soccer agent, and although he has a small portfolio, it includes the name of Xavi Simons, a target for Barça.

The relations with Dein are fantastic, as this hypothetical bonus he would have received clearly demonstrates. The intermediary and agent could facilitate Xavi Simons's arrival next summer, with the intention of returning to the club that trained him for nine years. Laporta would have everything planned, as time has shown.

At times, there were issues with Nike because they didn't want to pay any intermediary. Logically, they indicated that no one's services were necessary when there was a prior relationship of so many years between both institutions. It seems that, from those 1.7 billion that will be collected with the new contract, Dein would take 50 "kilos" that should belong to Barça.

This operation would facilitate the arrival of a Xavi Simons who is eager to wear the jersey of his beloved FC Barcelona again.
