Radical Turn — Laporta Skips Haaland and Has a New Superstar for Barça: '€70M'

Joan Laporta gives the Norwegian the green light to renew with Manchester City because his main target is someone else

Haaland won't play next season, and probably never, at Barça. The Athletic has discovered that the forward has decided to renew with Manchester City until June 30, 2034, when he will be 34 years old. In this new contract, all exit clauses have been removed, making his sale impossible. However, there's a catch and Laporta has been aware of this all along.

Laporta's relationship with Haaland's circles is excellent and there was genuine interest, but they didn't want to extend the situation. Although the Norwegian has always been liked, it's considered that he doesn't fit into Hansi Flick's plans. Madrid-Barcelona has learned that the Norwegian has been given the green light to renew his contract. Now it is clear that they wouldn't pursue his transfer next summer. The target is someone else and negotiations are already underway.

Laporta Skips Haaland and Has a New Superstar for Barça: Luis Díaz

Haaland has been given the liberty to do what he wants with his future. Joan Laporta is clear about who should be Barça's next superstar: Luis Díaz. The negotiation is underway, as announced in Colombia. The plan is to take him from Liverpool next summer, now with the possibility of a great offer.

Antena 2 has revealed that Laporta is in favor of signing Luis Díaz and is willing to pay 70 million euros to get him. This proposal is considered "more than adequate" to negotiate with Liverpool for this transfer. The club could give the green light if the Colombian asks to leave.

Luis Díaz Dreams of Barça: Plan in Motion

He has put his renewal on hold and is eager to wear Barça's jersey. In 2023, speaking about this possibility, his father was clear about it, indicating it would be "his dream."

"Luis Díaz is a loyal follower of Barcelona and it would be one of his dreams. We have to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way they welcomed him," his father pointed out.

In this regard, he continued: "Luis is a player who easily earns things because of his character, his work, and his dedication; he's very disciplined. If the possibility of his arrival at Barcelona arises, there's no problem because he's among the best in the world."

Laporta's plan is clear: with Haaland ruled out, he's going all in for Luis Díaz. He's the main target and is preparing 70 million euros to convince Liverpool.
