Josep Pedrerol Points to the Culprit for Nico Williams’s Snub to Barça: ‘Surprising’

The host of 'El Chiringuito' provides all the details of a saga that has greatly angered Barcelona

There is tremendous anger at FC Barcelona after the second consecutive snub from Nico Williams became known. After weeks in which the agreement seemed done, the forward ended up renewing with Athletic Club. He did so with a contract until 2035 and doubling his current salary... far surpassing what he was going to earn at Camp Nou (Camp Nou).

After what happened, although there wasn't a prepared program, Josep Pedrerol put together a special on El Chiringuito hours later. In it, he offered updates on this matter, directly pointing to the person responsible for Nico Williams's rejection.

A culprit at Barça

"There is a neglect on Deco's part that really stands out in Nico Williams's circle. After proposing freedom in case he couldn't be registered, Barça went six days without showing any sign of life, leaking that Luis Díaz is the number 2 option and could even come," Josep Pedrerol stated.

In this regard, the Catalan continued: "Barça expected them to get nervous, nobody got nervous. It was a strategy that didn't work out. There is a loser, which is Barcelona: it can't go out saying 'we've won'. The one who has won is Athletic Club."

Ultimatum for Nico Williams

"It's not that simple. Yesterday Deco called Nico Williams's circle eager to close the deal. The response was: 'Do you finally have guarantees? Do you have them now?' The answer is no. Yesterday Deco knew that Nico isn't going to Barça because he can't offer him guarantees. The one who found out this morning doesn't know how the negotiations went and played no role in this operation," Josep Pedrerol indicated.

Finally, the host of El Chiringuito concluded: "The ultimatum didn't end on Sunday, it was last Thursday and they had until Saturday. Barça gave him 48 hours to accept its offer."

Barça fed up with Nico Williams

In this regard, what is clear is that Nico Williams has lost all opportunity to wear FC Barcelona's jersey. The exhaustion is real and nobody wants to hear his name again. The first time could be overlooked, but not this second one. He was the one who offered himself and now has rejected the move with plenty of time ahead and without saying anything.

There is not only anger in Barça's offices, but also in the locker room. The closest friends to the Navarrese feel betrayed and nobody understands what has happened. There is turmoil.
