Pedrerol on El Hormiguero and His Relationship with Florentino: 'He Gets Mad When...'

Pedrerol presents himself again as a culer and denies that Florentino Pérez writes the scripts for his show

Josep Pedrerol promoted himself last night on a prime-time show of the network, El Hormiguero. Like his shows, El Chiringuito and Jugones, El Hormiguero belongs to the Atresmedia group.

The Catalan journalist underwent a session of all-inclusiveflattery. There was no other purpose than to whitewash his image by insisting on his status as a culer. Due to something similar, Florentino Pérez suggested the dismissal of the director of Marca according to what was reported at the time by the director of El Mundo, David Jiménez.

It is known that this is not the case for Josep Pedrerol, who has confessed to being "a friend of Florentino" and is worried because "Florentino hasn't called me for a month." However, a culer moderating a debate of Madridism exaltation looks good. It makes everything more believable, and that's what Pedrerol plays at.

This is what Pedrerol told Pablo Motos:

-"I get up an hour earlier in the mornings. Now what I do is go for a walk for an hour, which I didn't do before. I've lost an hour of sleep, but I've gained an hour of life."

"I'm a Barça Fan, but Not a Sycophant"

-"I'm a Barça fan, but I'm not a sycophant of Barça, so if Barça does something wrong, I say it. However, if Real Madrid plays the Champions League final against a non-Spanish team, I'm with Real Madrid."

-"Jorge Salvador[producer of El Hormiguero]says that's not being a fan, that's being a fanatic. Jorge Salvador knows I'm a Barça fan, but he sees me and says I'm not."

-Producer's reply: "Those of us who are from a team can quickly see who's on your team and who's not. And Josep is not a Barça fan."

-"We can't hand out Barça fan cards either, as there are people here who hand out cards."

-"There's something that caught my attention about Artificial Intelligence, to which I asked: 'Is Josep Pedrerol a Barça fan?'. And it said: 'Josep Pedrerol is a madridist fan who works in sports journalism." "Not even Artificial Intelligence believes you," Pablo Motos retorted.

-"In Barcelona, a few months ago, I was walking down the street, and people were greeting me. And a guy on a bike shouted my name, and I, who always greet, waved at him. And, well, he made the gesture of flipping me off."

"If I Criticize Florentino, He Doesn't Talk to Me for a Month"

-"And he was happy, he was satisfied, so we also make those who hate us happy."

-"I get along well with Joan Laporta, with Enrique Cerezo... I consider Florentino Pérez a friend of mine, but I think we each understand our role."

-"When I criticize Florentino, he doesn't talk to me for a month. I get along with him, but it's true that if he's heard something on the show, he gets mad, and I understand."

-"I don't talk to Florentino Pérez every day, nor do I go to his house, because  itmay look as if Florentino Pérez wrote the scripts for El Chiringuito but no. Indeed, the criticism have a relative effect, but he can take it, and that happens from time to time."

"Ancelotti is the Best Coach and Mbappé the Best Player in the World"

-"Mbappé is the best player in the world, and Lamine Yamal could become one."

-"The best coach is Ancelotti. Guardiola is third, and Mourinho is second."

-"Mourinho called me one day and said he wanted his daughter to come on the show for Justin Bieber. I said I agreed, that I would invite his daughter, but in return, I'd like to interview him."

-"He said okay. We have a preliminary chat to talk about the topics, and everything goes well. But, 48 hours before the interview, which was going to be on a Thursday, I hadn't heard from him."
