Great News! Frenkie de Jong Changes Everything and Hansi Flick is Delighted: ‘Closer’

Frenkie de Jong's latest move changes everything at FC Barcelona, and very positive news is coming in

The situation of Frenkie de Jong has changed completely over the past year at FC Barcelona. Since Hansi Flick arrived, his role has become much more important, to the point that all parties involved are seeking his contract renewal. His contract ends in 2026 and, although everyone is now on the same page, negotiations have been delayed due to an important issue.

De Jong has cut ties completely with his former agent, Ali Dursun. The relationship ended badly and his contract renewal has been hanging in the air for the past few months. Despite this, everything has recently been reactivated. The Dutchman has already chosen a new agent, who keeps an excellent personal relationship with Joan Laporta and Hansi Flick.

Frenkie de Jong 'allies' with Pini Zahavi

After taking some time to think it over, the midfielder has finally decided to join his career with agent Pini Zahavi. He represents several players from the current FC Barcelona squad and also Hansi Flick. In addition, he keeps an excellent relationship with President Laporta, with whom he also has business dealings outside the world of soccer.

In a meeting held in the last few hours in the city of Barcelona, Frenkie de Jong's name was put forward. Laporta, Pini Zahavi, and even Hansi Flick attended this meeting. All parties are on the same page and everything points to his contract renewal, making it clear that everyone's trust is at its highest.

Everything has changed for De Jong

Hansi Flick's arrival on the FC Barcelona bench has marked a turning point for several players in the squad... Few have noticed it as much as Frenkie de Jong. At 28 years old, the Dutch midfielder has experienced a change in situation that puts him back at the center of the blaugrana project. The German coach has backed him as a key piece in the midfield, and the feeling couldn't be better.

Frenkie arrived at Barça in the summer of 2019, coming from Ajax, for a fee that reached €86 million. He was one of the great promises of European soccer. The Catalan club trusted he would become the natural heir to Sergio Busquets in the engine room. However, since his arrival, his performance has been inconsistent, affected by system changes, coaches, and occasional injuries.

All that seems to be in the past. In this last season, Frenkie de Jong has played 46 official matches, in which he has scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists from his position as a deep-lying playmaker. Beyond the numbers, what has stood out most is his leadership on the field, his clarity in building from the back, and his ability to break lines from the base of the play. Flick has given him authority, freedom, and continuity, and the footballer is responding.

He is considered an essential profile for the culer midfield and now his contract renewal is underway. From a contract until 2026, he will move to a long-term deal, with a lower salary than his current one.
