Clément Lenglet Asks Joan Laporta to Let Him Leave Barça Now: ‘Pres If…’

Atlético wants to secure the Frenchman's future as soon as possible so he can play in the Club World Cup

The situation of Clément Lenglet isn't simple. With a contract with FC Barcelona until 2027, he has been on loan at Atlético this past season and now an agreement must be reached. He hasn't been a key member for Simeone, but his performance has convinced and he wants to have him available for the Club World Cup.

Atlético's plan is clear, trying to take advantage of Barça's situation. Lenglet doesn't have a place in the Catalan team and they offer the possibility of keeping him permanently at zero cost. This isn't accepted at FC Barcelona, who are asking for 10 million euros for the French center-back's departure.

One option is reaching a financial agreement to "release him" for the Club World Cup, a possibility that doesn't fully convince Barça. Laporta is clear about it: Clément Lenglet's situation must be definitively solved this summer and he doesn't want to keep dragging things out. If Atlético want him, they must pay to keep him permanently.

Clément Lenglet wants to solve his future: A request to Laporta

Madrid-Barcelona has learned that in recent days there have been contacts between Lenglet's camp and Barça. The request to President Laporta is clear: he only wants to play for Atlético. He has asked him to, as much as possible, try to make things as easy as possible so this agreement can be reached.

In this regard, the possibility of terminating his contract has also been put on Laporta's table. Clément Lenglet is willing to "forgive" the money he is guaranteed with FC Barcelona until 2027 if they let him choose his destination for free. This would be a major boost to the wage bill, freeing up one of the heaviest salaries on the roster.

Despite this, Laporta is clear that Clément Lenglet's departure this summer will only happen through a permanent transfer. The request to Atlético, one of the top rivals in Spain, is 10 million euros. Everything seems to indicate that the final price could be reduced, but under no circumstances will the Frenchman leave the blaugrana squad for free.

The decision has already been made and nothing will change the mind of a Laporta who is tired of this situation.
