Real Madrid has made the decision to let go two legends for the next season. We are talking about Luka Modric and Lucas Vázquez, whose contracts end on June 30 and are unlikely to be renewed.
Upon hearing this news, Tomás Roncero surprised with a very critical article in AS. He took the opportunity to remind us how important these "two legends" have been for the team. He is not happy at all and has been blunt with Florentino Pérez.
Tomás Roncero comes to the rescue
Roncero hasn't held back and has published a blunt article. "Every time there are bad results, a fatalism sets in the club and environment that leads to a strategic pessimism that sometimes prevents us from valuing what we have," he began.
He recalled: "I already know that our Luka will turn 40 on September 9 and that Lucas will reach 34 on July 1. But this season they have acted as firefighters again to help the team amid the plague of injuries that have plagued it."
"People forget that both have taken care of themselves. With such professionalism that they have always been available for Ancelotti without needing a break," Roncero added.

Tomás Roncero asked himself the following question: "Can you imagine if Modric or Lucas had had a significant injury, how Carletto's starting eleven would have been left stranded?"
To which he replied: "Let's not forget that last summer Kroos (35), Nacho (35), and Joselu (35) left, with 102 years (then) among the three... and the fans have missed all three throughout the course. The same will end up happening with Luka and Lucas."
Finally, Roncero said: "I don't mind going upstream like salmon, but I feel compelled to stand up for these two white legends... who together have 11 European Cups, more than double what Barça has in its entire history."
"Luka and Lucas Vázquez deserve to stay one more year. Out of respect and sporting justice," concluded the journalist.

Tomás Roncero wants Florentino to reconsider
What Tomás Roncero seeks with these words is to change the mind of Real Madrid's president, Florentino Pérez. He believes that both Modric and Lucas deserve the opportunity to renew their contracts to continue at Santiago Bernabéu next season.
The problem is that, apparently, Florentino has already made up his mind, and not even Tomás Roncero himself can change his mind. Changes are coming to Real Madrid, although some may be complicated.
