Surprise, he's leaving Real Madrid and will play with Messi: Mbappé and Bellingham can't accept it

Lionel Messi gets to work and is reportedly close to finalizing the signing of a distinguished Real Madrid player

Real Madrid plans changes for the next season, and Luka Modric's name is not in the plans. At 39 years old, his departure has already been made official this summer and he will leave definitively when the participation in the Club World Cup ends. This news has caused a lot of sadness and astonishment in the white locker room, with many of them believing he would stay for at least one more year.

So far, players like Mbappé or Bellingham still can't grasp it, believing that Modric has enough soccer to continue at Real Madrid. Despite this, the decision is made and official, which forces the Croatian to look for a new destination. It seems, at least according to Mundo Deportivo, he is aiming to go to the United States to pair up with Leo Messi.

Luka Modric, with Messi in Miami: the latest update

The mentioned information has highlighted that, for some time now, Leo Messi  has been requesting the signing of Luka Modric for Inter Miami. He is a footballer with whom he wants to share a locker room and now he would be close to it. He would arrive there as a free agent and sign for one season, until July 2026. He would do so with the intention of preparing for the next World Cup, trying to lead the Croatian national team in the United States.

Mundo Deportivo hasn't stopped there, highlighting that negotiations have accelerated and there is already talk of a contract for 2.5 million dollars annually. Modric has never been motivated by money, as shown by his proposal to Real Madrid, putting on the table the possibility of lowering his salary to stay there.

If this move is completed, the Croatian would completely change 'colors'. Not only the jersey, going from white to pink. Also the teammates. Since at Inter Miami, besides Messi, there is a large group of former Barcelona players like Busquets, Jordi Alba, or Suárez.

This doesn't seem to pose any problem for him, with the Croatian intending to pack his bags for Miami to embark on a new adventure. This time, far from his beloved Santiago Bernabéu.
