Many people think so, not to say everyone in the Real Madrid family, but few dare to say it. Raúl has done so, and he has pointed out Carlo Ancelotti's weak point.
Ancelotti: Allergic to Youth Teams?
Ancelotti is a coach with personality, faithful to his ideas. He's done well and has the credit to continue working as Real Madrid coach following his own methods. He's earned it.
But his controversial and traditional decision to do without the youth team and trust veterans is causing controversy among Real Madrid fans.
This is especially true now that Barça has grown by drawing kids from La Masia.
Real Madrid has always boasted about having the best youth academy in the world, but it's the other teams that benefit from it. The local kids are no good for Ancelotti's Real Madrid.
Raúl Raises His Hand
Castilla coach Raúl González has raised his hand to show his disagreement with Ancelotti's decisions. For him, there are great players in the youth team who deserve to play in the first team.
Raúl has dared to say what everyone at Real Madrid thinks. Perhaps because he knows that his future is not at Real Madrid but rather managing another team in the Bundesliga.
"There are great players and great players will continue to emerge for the first team, with the difficulty and demands that this entails because the best players in the world are there," Raúl explained.
Then he went further and referred to the very few players who have enjoyed an opportunity under Ancelotti. The latest was Asencio.
"Asencio's arrival has given the youth players a plus. It has given them hope of reaching the first team. And it also allows them to counter the discourse that compared them to Barcelona's youth system," says Raúl.
All that's Left is for Opportunities to Arrive.
Raúl argues that "Asencio's arrival shows that the boys are prepared. Like others who have been here and have succeeded in other leagues. The Real Madrid youth academy is prepared and has shown it."
And he landed his blow at Ancelotti: "We just need to wait for those opportunities that arrive due to certain circumstances and that perhaps have arrrived at other clubs. What is clear is that Madrid's is the best academy."
It is clear that, for Raúl, Real Madrid has the best youth system. If there are no more homegrown players in the first team, it's because someone has decided that it should be that way.
He never mentioned Ancelotti, but Raúl was very clear.
