Rodrygo Demands It from Mikel Arteta! Surprise at Arsenal: ‘I Want to Earn…’

Rodrygo Goes opens the door to leaving Madrid, but with one demand: a salary that is not within everyone's reach

Real Madrid still has several unknowns in the planning of its squad for the next season. The most important one, at least in terms of the economic factor, is knowing what will happen with Rodrygo Goes. As of today, his future is hanging in the air despite his closest circle assuring that he wants to stay and succeed at Santiago Bernabéu. He is expected to speak with Xabi Alonso in the coming days, in a meeting that could be key to knowing what will happen.

Rodrygo demands a high salary

So far, the reality is that the Brazilian doesn't lack offers. In the Premier League, he is highly valued and the latest to show interest in signing him is Arsenal. The problem lies in the salary Rodrygo Goes wants to earn if he leaves Real Madrid, something that has deterred the club led by Arteta.

Sky Sports has revealed that, in recent days, there have been talks between Rodrygo and Arsenal to carry out this complicated operation. What they didn't expect at the Emirates is that the Brazilian wants to earn 10 million euros net per year, an amount they don't want to reach.

What Rodrygo demands, more than a high salary, is  the recognition of the team he plays for. He wants it at all levels: he desires to feel respected and not the last in line. He believes he deserves it.

A question mark with Rodrygo at Real Madrid

Rodrygo Goes is experiencing a moment of uncertainty at Real Madrid. Although he has a contract until 2028, his future is not guaranteed. The Brazilian doesn't feel sufficiently valued within the white project, where he considers that he is a step below other stars like Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, or Jude Bellingham. This lack of recognition has caused doubts in his circle.

During the 2024-25 season, Rodrygo has played 50 official matches, in which he has achieved notable records: 13 goals and 10 assists. Despite his performance, his influence has varied, and he hasn't always had the desired continuity in the big matches.

Now, everything points to his continuity depending on a key conversation with the next coach of Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso. The Spanish coach will be the one to decide the role Rodrygo will have in the new project.

If he doesn't receive sporting guarantees, the Brazilian forward doesn't rule out changing scenery in search of a team where he is given the prominence he believes he deserves. In Valdebebas, they are aware of his discontent, and Rodrygo's future is more open than ever: as long as they pay 100 million euros.
