It's a complete mystery what will happen with Raúl González's future. After starting his career in Madrid's youth academy, he has made the decision to leave in order to continue his career coaching at the highest level. There has been a lot of speculation about it: at times, he seemed to be very close to his beloved Schalke, but in the end, the Germans have chosen another coach for their renewed project.
In this regard, Germany have surprised everyone by indicating that the future of the former "7" of Real Madrid still points to the Bundesliga. More specifically, it seems that the most realistic possibility for Raúl González is Leipzig, which has been looking for a new manager for some time. He hasn't been their first choice, but given the difficulties with Fàbregas, they would have decided to move on.

Raúl González linked with Leipzig
At all times, the main candidate for Leipzig has been the Spaniard Cesc Fàbregas and there might even be an agreement with him, but Como won't give in. In this scenario, the top alternative on the Germans' table is the former Castilla coach, who is a free agent and willing to accept the position.
Raúl González's profile is appreciated in the Red Bull offices, with his main supporter being a figure like Jürgen Klopp. Nevertheless, he's not the only option Leipzig are considering, as they're also interested in Alexander Blessin.
Raúl González seeks success on the sidelines
Raúl González began his career in 2018, taking charge of Cadete B at Real Madrid. That same year, he was promoted to Juvenil B after Álvaro Benito was dismissed. In the 2019-2020 season, he was named coach of Real Madrid Castilla, a position he held for six seasons. During his tenure, he managed 209 matches, with a record of 82 wins, 70 draws, and 57 losses. Under his leadership, Castilla reached the promotion play-offs to Segunda División twice, coming close to achieving the goal in 2021 and 2023.
In August 2020, Raúl also managed Juvenil A, with whom he won the UEFA Youth League, the only title in this category in the club's history.
Despite his commitment and achievements in the youth academy, Raúl didn't receive the opportunity to coach Real Madrid's first team. This situation, similar to those in previous years, influenced his decision to seek new professional challenges outside the club.
In May 2025, Raúl announced his departure from Castilla, expressing his desire to return someday to the club he considers his home. He is currently looking for a top-level project to continue his career as a coach, which could very well be Leipzig.
