Unexpected! Luka Modric Has a New Team: Neither Miami nor Arabia — He Stays in Spain

Modric has an offer to continue living in Spain and residing in his house in Madrid

Luka Modric will leave Real Madrid when the Club World Cup ends. After so many years, the decision has been unilateral by Madrid, saying goodbye to one of their greatest legends. He was able to say farewell to a packed Santiago Bernabéu, bidding farewell in grand style. He keeps receiving offers, but the latest one released is truly surprising: he could stay in Spain, living in his same home in the capital.

Luka Modric: Open doors at Rayo

Rayo Vallecano president Martín Presa has spoken in the last few hours. In recent years, the Madrid team has managed to sign unexpected players with top-level experience like Falcao or James. Now, he offers Luka Modric the chance to do the same, to keep living in Madrid and keep playing at the top level before the World Cup.

"Falcao wanted to live in Madrid and came. Players like Modric or Cristiano know that if they want to play for Rayo, they're going to live in Madrid... But they can't earn what they've earned," Presa pointed out on Onda Cero.

A clear goal for Modric

Speaking on Cadena SER, Pedja Mijatovic, close to Modric and former Real Madrid player and employee, revealed what his plans are. He has to leave, but he is clear that he won't head to an exotic destination, trying to keep playing at the top level for now.

"I know Luka very well. You don't know how this guy thinks. With his age, with everything he's achieved, the hunger this kid has to surpass himself and accomplish things... I've never seen it in my life. He obviously won't stay in Spain. But don't be surprised if he ends up in England, look, where they go 93 mph (150 km/h). Don't be surprised if he ends up in Italy. Or in Germany. Because many teams want him," he began.

Regarding the Saudi Arabia option, he couldn't have been more blunt: "In soccer, anything is possible, but knowing him, I don't think so. Because he wants to compete, he wants to be in good shape, he wants to be sharp, and that's something the five big leagues can give him."

Luka Modric's plan is clear: to keep playing at the European elite to arrive prepared for his last World Cup with Croatia. Unexpectedly, Rayo Vallecano offers him this chance, allowing him to play in European competition and keep living in Madrid. Now, he has to decide.
