Radical Turn and a Far-fetched Move: Madrid's Plan to Replace Carvajal

Real Madrid will not sit back and watch Lucas Vázquez as their only right-back until the end of the season

Real Madrid is not going to sit idly by in the face of Dani Carvajal's injury. The club is expecting Alexander-Arnold this summer but the right-back will be covered by next winter transfer market.

The crisis cabinet made up of Florentino Pérez, José Ángel Sánchez and Carlo Ancelotti has met and made decisions. It's decided to take an urgent decision to fill the gap left by Dani Carvajal.

Carvajal's Solution is Cheap and at Home

Liverpool full-back Alexander-Arnold is expected to arrive this summer for free. With Carvajal now fit, he's expected to compete with him for the Real Madrid right-back spot.

But the white club is not resigned to finishing the season with Lucas Vázquez as the only right-back. It's already made moves to implement a solution.

This is the return of Miguel Gutiérrez, who's on loan to Girona. Specifically, he's transferred with buyback option, which is the usual practice at Real Madrid with its youth players. He's in his third season at Girona (91 games, 6 goals and 15 assists).

Real Madrid retains 50% of his rights and a buyback option that it didn't exercise last summer for €8 million. In 2025 it will be €9 million and in 2026 €10 million. His release clause for the other clubs is €35 million.

A 9-Million-Euro Transfer

Real Madrid will pay the stipulated 9 million and will get the player back in the winter transfer market. Ancelotti will give him the right flank of the defense, although he usually plays on the left.

His starting position at Real Madrid will help increase his value. The club would try to get more than the 35 million euros stated in his release clause for him in the summer.

Another thing would be if his performance exceeded expectations. In that case, the club would consider keeping him in its squad.

Real Madrid has the upper hand. Florentino Pérez hopes to make a good deal with Miguel Gutiérrez. Either sportingly or financially, depending on whether he ends up staying or leaving the white club.
