Operation in Progress: Florentino Activates 2x1 Strategy to Fix Real Madrid

Real Madrid has chosen the player who's worth two and who can replace Carvajal and also Alaba.

Great damage requires great remedies. Real Madrid is reacting to the accumulation of misfortunes through which its squad has gone. It's doing so in an intelligent way.

The Roadmap for Transfers

The roadmap for transfers is unchanged for the summer: Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies at zero cost for the full-backs. Plus, Toni Kroos, a pivot for whom you'll have to dig deep into your pocket. The favorite one is Florian Wirtz.

But all of that will happen next summer, at the end of the season. Now, with Dani Carvajal's serious injury and the bad news coming from David Alaba, Real Madrid is preparing to make a strategic move as a matter of urgency.

And there will be some new developments in the winter transfer market. Real Madrid's squad has been crippled by injuries and needs a major makeover.

Ancelotti, Solari and Florentino are working hand in hand to find a player who can solve the coach's problems. And they are looking for a very specific profile: a player who can be worth two.

A Footballer Worth two

The defense center has its first-choice players: Rüdiger and Militão. However, they have no substitutes, because Ancelotti doesn't trust either Jesús Vallejo or Jacobo Ramón.

Ancelotti has turned to Tchouaméni for that position in emergency cases, also to Dani Carvajal. Now he can no longer count on him and his position is unprotected.

The Italian coach wants the immediate transfer of a player who can play as a right-back or center-back if necessary. In other words, a versatile player who stands out, fundamentally, for his qualities in defense.

The Chosen One

And the chosen one is Jonathan Tah, the German international center-back, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen under the orders of Xabi Alonso.

At 28, Tah is a proven defender whose contract with his club expires on June 30. That means he could arrive in the winter transfer market for a symbolic fee.

Nine years ago, Bayer Leverkusen paid 10 million euros for him from Fortuna Düsseldorf. He's a very physical player who will bring muscle to Real Madrid's game at 1.95 meters (6' 4") and 94 kilos (207 lbs.).

He is powerful and, above all, fast, difficult to surprise. Ancelotti won't demand great offensive displays from him because he already has enough dynamite up front. He will demand, however, that he be the master of his zone.

Then, during the summer, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies will arrive, along with the pivot, the new Kroos, to complete the white squad.
