Florentino Pérez is always looking for ways to improve the Real Madrid squad. This season there have been many problems in the defensive line and, so far, many names have been mentioned. One has been Sergio Ramos, but he has no chance of returning. In fact, in Sevilla, they like a player who is compared to the Andalusian: José Ángel Carmona.
Real Madrid hasn't taken eyes off José Ángel Carmona, whose contract ended on June 30, 2025. In the end, the right-back has reached an agreement to extend his contract, including a very attractive termination clause. Out of the current 20 million, Carmona's price has only risen to 30 million. This figure is very similar to that paid for Sergio Ramos in 2005.
The truth is that José Ángel Carmona's name is still on Florentino Pérez's list to reinforce Real Madrid's right flank, but he has lost momentum. Right now, there are other players ahead of him and the reality is that it seems difficult for him to arrive. In any case, he is a very popular athlete, with a low price and who will be followed (very) closely.
José Ángel Carmona, the Surprise on Florentino's List, is Appealing to Real Madrid
At 22, José Ángel Carmona is one of the players that Madrid likes the most, with the intention of "Spanishizing" the first team squad. This season he was an important member of Sevilla after his last loan. He chose to renew his contract with the intention of continuing adding minutes.
He can play as a right-back or as a center-back and plays very similarly to Sergio Ramos at Sevilla. In 2005, Real Madrid decided to pay the release clause of the Camero, which, after taxes, ended up costing 27 million euros. Now, José Ángel Carmona costs 30 million: a bargain.
However, the reality is that José Ángel Carmona is not a priority for Florentino Pérez's Real Madrid. They like him, but there are other players of a higher level ahead of him, such as Alexander-Arnold or Pedro Porro. He will be closely monitored for the future but, for now, nothing at all.
