Lucas Vázquez delivers a surprise, NO to Espanyol. He already has a new team: 'I'm going to the...'

The Galician is about to sign with his new team after analyzing all the options

Lucas Vázquez has, for weeks now, become part of Real Madrid's history. After the Club World Cup ended, his contract with the Merengue team concluded following more than a decade defending its colors. So far, he hasn't signed with anyone. He has been strongly linked with continuing to play in LaLiga, joining the ranks of Espanyol, but it seems his future will be elsewhere.

No to Espanyol

Although he already wore Espanyol's jersey and has received a firm offer to return, Lucas Vázquez's idea would be to seek a change of scenery. He doesn't want to keep playing in Spain and currently has an offer on the table to continue in Europe.

Specifically, "AS" has revealed that Besiktas has knocked on Lucas's door to try to close his signing. He is a free agent and can play wherever he wants. He is attracted by the idea of packing his bags for Türkiye, being able to sign a contract for the upcoming season and having the freedom to change scenery in 2026.

If Lucas Vázquez ends up going to Besiktas, he would have the chance to play in European competition. The Turkish club is in the qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League. This is something he couldn't do at Espanyol, Saudi Arabia, or the United States.

A life at Bernabéu

Lucas has put an end to his time at Madrid at the end of last season, closing one of the most successful careers in recent years at the White club. He arrived from the youth academy, went through Espanyol, and returned to the first team to become a key player thanks to his versatility, commitment, and dedication.

During his long career as a Merengue, he has been an essential piece both in attack and defense, and in recent years he established himself as a right back, always providing reliable performances when draftedon. Although he was never a media star, his performance and attitude made him one of the most valued footballers by coaches and teammates.

Lucas has said goodbye to Madrid with an impressive record: 5 Champions Leagues, 4 Club World Cups, 4 UEFA Super Cups, 4 LaLigas, 1 Copa del Rey, and 4 Spanish Super Cups. Very few players in the club's history can boast of having contributed to so many triumphs.

At 32, Lucas Vázquez says farewell to the club of his life, leaving an indelible mark and undoubtedly earning a special place in Madrid's history.
