He Left Florentino and Offered Himself to Barça: of New Luis Enrique's Betrayal

Jorge Mendes offers Laporta a very interesting transfer due to his Real Madrid past

Jorge Mendes is his agent and Joan Laporta already knows that he will give him all kinds of benefits if Barça decides to hire him.

This season he's played 10 league games, with 2 goals and 4 assists. In the Champions League he's played 4 games, with 0 goals and 0 assists. Total: 14 games, with 2 goals and 4 assists.

When Marco Asensio left Florentino Pérez to sign for PSG, he could hardly have imagined that the French adventure would become so complicated.

The fact that Luis Enrique is the Parisian team's manager, the same one who was his coach with Spain, hasn't helped. He's become a player who can be replaced at PSG.

The Footballer Who Left Florentino Pérez Hanging

His record is not exactly something to write home about. Marco Asensio is not happy in Paris and has asked his agent to find him a team in Spain.

Number one on the list of favorites is FC Barcelona. Mendes has a hand in Laporta. He's done him many favors by bringing and taking players.

Now he is offering Marco Asensio, who has the added gossip of having left Florentino Pérez hanging. Asensio could become the 21st century version of Luis Enrique.

Luis Enrique betrayed Real Madrid to go to Barça. History could repeat itself. Although Barça is not in a position to make transfers right now.

Deco and Flick are looking favorably on his transfer, but his contract with PSG won't terminate until 2026. Laporta would be interested in signing him as long as he arrives at zero cost.

Laporta Would Only Consider It at Zero Cost

It would be a matter of waiting for a year, something that doesn't appeal to the footballer. The other option would be agreement to leave Paris, with PSG knowing that they need to lighten the squad of high-paid players.

Asensio arrived in Paris on a free transfer. Real Madrid didn't charge a single euro for his departure. Jorge Mendes will try to make his departure the same as his arrival: at zero cost.

Only in this case could Asensio be an interesting player for Barça. Although the other drawback is his salary, which would be in the high-salary range of Camp Nou. Asensio arrived for free and that explains his high salary: 11 million net per season.

Asensio had hoped to play a starring role at PSG after Mbappé's departure. Luis Enrique, however, only has him in the rotation, which has led to his desire to return to Spain.

A Complicated but Not Impossible Operation

For Barcelona, he's more appealing for what he represents with his past at Real Madrid than his possible contribution to the team. Lamine Yamal and Raphinha would block his path  after all.

We are facing an operation that seems complicated but not impossible. Jorge Mendes's dealings with Barça involve several premises. Getting Laporta out of a bind could mean that, in exchange, he obtains the commitment to hire Marco Asensio.

Jorge Mendes also has Milan's Portuguese Rafael Leão, whom he has also offered to FC Barcelona.
