Gonzalo García sets a condition to stay at Real Madrid: Endrick is ruled out

Gonzalo wants to stay at Real Madrid, but he is clear and sets a condition that Xabi Alonso has accepted

Nobody expected it a few weeks ago, but Gonzalo García's performance has put the squad planning of Real Madrid in check. The youth academy player, who was almost out of Santiago Bernabéu, has excelled in the Club World Cup, completely changing his situation in the white team. At 21, he comes off a record of 4 goals and 1 assist in 6 matches, showing Xabi Alonso that he has the level for Madrid.

Gonzalo García sets 1 condition to stay

With things as they are and under contract until 2027, Gonzalo García has been clear. He dreams of succeeding at Real Madrid, but he understands that the situation is complicated. A year ago, Florentino closed a deal that could reach €72 million for Endrick. Now, the Madrid native has overtaken him and doesn't want everything to take an unexpected turn, having been firm about staying.

What Gonzalo García has asked for is the chance to earn a spot at Real Madrid. He doesn't want to be left warming the bench when he has options to leave and be important elsewhere. He hasn't asked for Endrick's departure at all, but he does want to take advantage while he's injured to feel as important as possible.

As of today, it looks like both Gonzalo and Endrick will remain at Real Madrid. They'll have to coexist. However, there has been a change in their roles: the Madrid native will be Kylian Mbappé's backup, while the Brazilian striker will be third in line.

Golden opportunity for Gonzalo

This is the biggest opportunity of Gonzalo's career. He'll be able to train daily with the elite, be part of the group, and take advantage of minutes in the Cup, decided matches, or even Champions League. Xabi Alonso himself considers him ready to take on that role.

The player has taken the news with maturity. Although he expected to leave, he knows this could open many doors for him. It's not easy to become the direct replacement for one of the best players in the world.

People at Valdebebas speak very highly of him. Now he'll have the chance to prove it where it matters most: on the field at Santiago Bernabéu. He comes off a tremendous tournament in the United States and the idea is to make the most of his good form.
