Breaking News on Fernando Morientes's Health Status: Between Life and Death

A pulmonary embolism made people fear for the life of the former Real Madrid player

Fernando Morientes, a legend of Spanish soccer, has experienced one of the most delicate episodes of his life.

A former player for Real Madrid, Monaco, Liverpool, and Valencia, among others, he has kept Spanish fans on edge due to his health condition.

His Life Was in Danger

The former Real Madrid forward and current commentator on COPE and Movistar has revealed that he recently suffered a pulmonary embolism. He was hospitalized for several days to the point of putting his life at risk.

Fortunately, the doctors caught it in time, and his life is out of danger at this moment.

The scare began after a trip from Huelva to Madrid. Morientes started to feel a severe pain in his chest, which he initially attributed to gastric discomfort.

However, during the night, the discomfort intensified, leading him to rush to the hospital. There, the doctors found elevated levels of cardiac enzymes, which set off all the alarms.

After conducting tests, they ruled out a cardiac problem but detected a pleural effusion. Finally, the diagnosis was clear: pulmonary embolism, caused by a blood clot that had formed behind the knee. Possibly from spending many hours sitting, both on the plane and in the car.

"I Didn't Take Precautions and It Almost Cost Me My Life"

"My blood began to thicken due to lack of movement. The clot traveled to the lung, and I spent five very tough days in the hospital," Morientes explained. Fortunately, the doctors managed to stabilize his condition and have assured him that he will fully recover.

Additionally, the former footballer took the opportunity to raise awareness among the public about the dangers of traveling constantly without precaution.

"It is very important for those who travel often to get check-ups or even carry heparin. I didn't take precautions and it almost cost me my life," he said.

Morientes wanted to conclude his testimony by thanking the medical team that saved his life and sending a clear message: "We must choose our trips better. It's not worth risking health."

From MB, we are pleased that everything ended in a scare. We look forward to hearing his analyses of soccer matches on Cope and Movistar again.
