Atlético Cashes In on Bernabéu's Problems: Metropolitano, a Gold Mine

Atlético de Madrid Gives Up Hosting the World Cup to Focus on Generating Revenue from Concerts

Unforeseen Soundproofing Issues at the New Bernabéu Spark Euphoria at Atlético de Madrid.

Real Madrid Has Been Forced to Give Up a Significant Source of Atypical Income that was already budgeted. Most of its concert program for 2025 and 2026 has been moved to the Metropolitano.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid is looking for ways to appease neighbors who remain opposed to the Bernabéu being used as a concert venue. The solution is complex, although Real Madrid is working tirelessly to find a way to soundproof its stadium.

Atlético de Madrid Offers the Metropolitano

The White Club Has Budgeted 12 Million Euros for the Soundproofing Work of the venue, although it seems difficult to find a definitive solution.

The City Council, meanwhile, can't go against the will of the citizens. It awaits the solutions that Real Madrid provides to give the green light to the continuation of the concerts.

While Real Madrid solves its issues, Atlético de Madrid offers the Metropolitano for the concerts canceled in 2025. For those that won't be held at the Bernabéu in 2026.

FC Barcelona Is Closely Following the Situation because its intention is to use this source of income when the new Camp Nou is completed.

The Metropolitano Gives Up the World Cup

Atlético is clear about it. They Have Given Up on the Metropolitano Being a Host for the 2030 World Cup, Giving Its Spot to Valencia, which had been left out. FIFA required the clubs owning the stadiums to give them up during the month prior to the World Cup.

During Those Dates, the Metropolitano Has a Series of Pending Musical Commitments that it can't give up due to the money they generate. Atlético has preferred that the Colchonero Venue Disappear from the World Cup Program.

The club has estimated 20 Million Euros as the money it would forgo by giving its stadium to FIFA a month before the World Cup.

Atlético de Madrid has found the best side of the concerts. Last summer, 700,000 people paraded through the Metropolitano to attend concerts by Bruce Springsteen, Morat, Estopa, Metallica, Feid, and many others.

For this summer, Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, and Stray Kids, Natos and Waor, Lola Índigo, and Dellafuente are scheduled, who had signed their performance at Santiago Bernabéu.

For 2026, a series of concerts planned at the Bernabéu and signed with Live Nation are confirmed for the Metropolitano. This includes Oasis, Shakira, or Bad Bunny.
