Traveling across the United States with international layovers can be exhausting. Long lines, repeated security checks, and having to check your luggage again are part of the usual stress. But that's about to change.
American Airlines, in collaboration with the TSA and authorities from the United Kingdom, has launched the One Stop Security program. This program aims to make the passenger experience much more streamlined and comfortable.
The idea is simple: eliminate double checks and allow connecting flight passengers to go straight to their boarding gate. The pilot test began at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, and the initial results have been promising.

How One Stop Security works
The system allows passengers arriving from international flights not to go through TSA again or recheck their luggage. For example, travelers arriving from London at Heathrow Airport can go directly from U.S. customs to their connecting flight.
All this is possible thanks to coordination between the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the United Kingdom's Department for Transport.
The TSA ensures that all security standards are met. Meanwhile, American Airlines coordinates so that flight and baggage logistics work perfectly.
Advantages for passengers
David Seymour, Chief Operating Officer of American Airlines, states that One Stop Security represents "one of the most innovative improvements for customers." The benefits are clear: lines are reduced, repeated security checks are eliminated, and time is saved.
It is estimated that wait times could be reduced by up to 50%, making the journey more comfortable and less stressful. For those who fly frequently, especially on international connections, this change could mean the difference between a chaotic layover and a smooth, relaxed trip.
Expansion and future
For now, the program covers only the route between London and Dallas, but there are already plans for expansion. Delta Air Lines plans to join at Atlanta International Airport for flights from London. American Airlines, meanwhile, seeks to open a connection between Sydney and Los Angeles.
The idea is that, if the results are positive, more airports and airlines will join the initiative. This would not only reduce lines and stress for passengers, but also streamline internal airport operations, benefiting everyone.
One Stop Security aims to be a silent revolution in the way people travel. It takes U.S. airports toward a more streamlined, efficient, and passenger-focused model.
