The United States launched a program that promises to change the lives of hundreds of artists in California. Starting September 1, 2025, the Oficina de Artes y Cultura (OAC) began providing monthly financial support of $850 for 12 months. This means a total of $10,200 per person.
The benefit is part of the Creative Growth Fellowship Program, designed to boost creators in various disciplines. The initiative has a budget of $2.04 million and selected 200 recipients who will receive payments through August 2026.
Who can access the benefit
The program is aimed at artists residing in Sacramento County. In addition, they must meet these requirements:
- Be over 18 years old at the time of registration.
- Submit proof of address no older than 60 days.
- Develop their artistic work within the 13 recognized disciplines, such as music, dance, film, theater, literature, design, visual arts, crafts, and interdisciplinary expressions.

The application period closed on June 20, 2025, and the evaluation process extended through August 31. Those selected will receive a notice by email or text message. OAC recommends checking the inbox and spam folder, as the confirmation may arrive through these channels.
An extra income without restrictions
The $850 monthly check isn't subject to any specific use. Each artist can decide whether to use it to cover personal expenses, buy materials, or invest in projects that strengthen their career.
This support aims to provide financial stability to professionals who often face irregular income. It's assistance that allows them to focus on creativity without worrying so much about daily finances.
Impact on the artistic community
The program is already generating expectations among local creators. In addition to the financial support, it represents recognition of their work and their contribution to culture. For many, receiving this type of incentive is a relief and a motivation to keep developing artistic projects.

With guaranteed payments through August 2026, this initiative is expected to become one of the most relevant in the country during 2025-2026. OAC assures that it will keep supporting artists and evaluating new ways to foster culture and creativity.
How to stay informed
If you didn't participate in this edition of the program, not all is lost. OAC has indicated that there will be future calls and similar opportunities for other artists in the state. Staying alert to their announcements and newsletters is key to not missing the opportunity.
In short, California gives more than $10,000 to artists who meet the requirements. It's an initiative that combines financial support and cultural recognition, thus strengthening the artistic landscape in the United States.
