Unprecedented swap between Barça and Milan: everything depends on Ronald Araújo

FC Barcelona has a deal on the table to bring Laporta's favorite at a laughable price

No one has missed the situation of Ronald Araújo at FC Barcelona. The Uruguayan center-back, whose contract has been renewed until 2031, has a release clause of 60 million euros. The feeling is clear, as he is no longer considered untouchable and could even be included in deals as a bargaining chip. The latest possibility has been revealed by "El Nacional", surprising with a swap that could benefit both Barça and Milan.

Ronald Araújo for Leao: The Surprise of the Summer

The aforementioned report has indicated that there is a rumor gaining traction in recent hours. Barça could swap Araújo for Rafael Leao, one of Laporta's favorite forwards. The Portuguese forward would intend to leave Milan, which would require an extra financial compensation of between 10 and 15 million.

The deal hasn't been confirmed yet by any of the parties, but in Camp Nou offices "it's being considered as a real possibility". Leao is highly regarded and fits into Hansi Flick's system, but his current price makes it impossible for Barça to sign him by paying a transfer fee.

Including a player like Ronald Araújo in the deal would make everything easier. FC Barcelona would have to pay an extra amount to solve the valuation differences between both players, but this would be minimal.

Ronald Araújo has the final say

While it is publicly known that Leao would be delighted to play for FC Barcelona, the question lies in Ronald Araújo's stance. The Uruguayan was willing to move to Italy in the last winter transfer window, but this has changed. Initially, his idea is to stay at Barça, even though he knows he isn't a starter for Hansi Flick.

He has Milan's offer on the table, where he would feel important again. The problem is that he isn't fully convinced by the Rossoneri project, having doubts especially because they won't play in Europe next season.

If he ends up leaving, Madrid-Barcelona has learned that Ronald Araújo's favorite destination is England. The Uruguayan believes that the Premier League is where his play style and defending fit best, so it would be his priority if he ever leaves Barça.
