U-turn with Dean Huijsen: Florentino Decides and Xabi Alonso Accepts

He seemed like the ideal candidate, but everything has changed at Real Madrid regarding the possible signing of the Spanish center-back

When everything seemed set for Dean Huijsen to be dressed in white next season,  Real Madrid has made the final decision: the center-back will not play at Santiago Bernabéu. According to the newspaper AS, the club presided over by Florentino Pérez has ruled out the signing of the promising defender from Bournemouth due to the high cost of his release clause... valued at 58 million euros.

Dean Huijsen, Ruled Out by Real Madrid

Dean Huijsen has been one of the great revelations of Italian soccer this season. Debuting at Bournemouth, he has left a good impression with his ball control, personality, and potential. His name had been highlighted by the white sports management, especially with the aim of rejuvenating the defense for the coming years. However,  when it came to making a final decision, the club has chosen not to proceed further with the operation.

According to the aforementioned source,  Real Madrid likes Huijsen's qualities, but he is not considered a standout footballer to justify paying 58 million euros. The arrival of more proven names or the preference to strengthen other positions (such as left-back or defensive midfielder) have been key to halting the signing for now.

Additionally,  this stance has been consulted with Xabi Alonso, who will be the next coach of Real Madrid. The Basque coach, who knows the German and Italian markets well, has supported Madrid's stance and has given the green light to seek alternatives.

Chelsea Will Be Dean Huijsen's Next Destination

Meanwhile, Chelsea has taken the lead. The London team has shown a strong interest in Dean Huijsen and, according to AS, is willing to pay his full release clause. Talks with Bournemouth are advanced, and the player's camp views his move to London favorably, where he would have an important role from the start.

The outcome is clear:  Florentino has decided not to continue bidding, and Chelsea is very close to finalizing the signing. Dean Huijsen, barring an unexpected turn, will not be the new center-back for Madrid.
