Although Ansu Fati's move to Monaco seemed advanced and practically done, the reality is quite different. In the last few hours, FC Barcelona has made the decision to reject the first proposal made by the Monegasque club to acquire the Spaniard, according to Marca. Laporta has considered this offer "insufficient", having decided to decline it instantly.
Initially, Barça's priority regarding Ansu Fati's departure is to finalize his transfer definitively. However, it doesn't want to lose control over his future, including a possible future buy-back clause. Nevertheless, Monaco is clear that it doesn't want to buy him, at least for now, and is only considering a loan.
The proposal from Monaco that FC Barcelona has rejected involved a loan, but without paying Ansu Fati's entire salary. This is very high after his contract renewal until 2027, increasing his salary season after season. Barça is clear: if the academy product ends up leaving, it doesn't want to pay a single euro of his wages. This is the only condition it has set for the deal to go through successfully.

Monaco doesn't give up on Ansu Fati
In this scenario, Madrid-Barcelona has learned that Monaco is expected to make a second offer for the Barça academy product. The positions aren't as far apart as they seem, with two key aspects that could be solved with an improved offer.
For tax reasons, Ansu Fati needs everything to be finalized before June 30, so he is the main party interested in speeding up the final steps. The formula points to a loan with a purchase option, which could become mandatory with various performance clauses.
An important obstacle is also the price of this clause. Barça's idea is for it to reach €15 million, while Monaco doesn't go above €12 million.

Beyond this, there's his salary. Barça has been clear with Ansu Fati: either Monaco pays everything he earns, or he'll have to lower his wages. Considering the tax advantages of living in Monaco, the most viable option is for the footballer to accept a pay cut in order to leave now.
These are minor obstacles that aren't insurmountable, but everyone has to do their part...
