Tomás Roncero didn't want to miss FC Barcelona's last match. The journalist from El Chiringuito wanted to see good soccer, something he hasn't seen for a long time... and he has closely followed the Barça victory in the derby against Espanyol by 3 to 1. On his 'X' account he has given a good account of it, but he has taken the opportunity to describe the match as "watered down".
The victory in El Clásico and the eight offsides that Mbappé was caught in didn't sit well with him. This is one of the hallmarks of Hansi Flick's team and it was once again demonstrated in the derby against Espanyol... with the Espanyol team falling into the trap.
Espanyol have scored three goals against Barça, but two of them have been ruled out for illegal position. This has allowed Tomás Roncero to lambaste the match and the refereeing, making clear his lack of soccer knowledge.
"By disallowing goals against Espanyol by the hair of a prawn, the Catalan derby has become watered down. I've lost count of the number of goals disallowed against the parakeets," wrote Tomás Roncero in 'X' during the match between Barça and Espanyol.
Tomás Roncero can't stand it: 13 goals disallowed for Barça
The offside model implemented by Hansi Flick is working wonders. With Espanyol's two goals, Barça have now seen their opponents' goals disallowed for 13 times.
Seven of these thirteen goals have been disallowed by the VAR, while the rest have been the work of the refereeing body, who were correct in that regard.
Tomás Roncero can't stand it, but the reality is that Barça execute the offside tactic perfectly. Against Villarreal, three were ruled out. In Monaco, one, the same as against Bayern in the Champions League. While Mbappé and his Real Madrid have also fallen into the trap.
