The 5 Keys to Victory: Why did Barça Win El Clásico?

FC Barcelona have crushed Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabéu, winning 0-4.

0-4, Barça have beaten Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabéu. They did so thanks to a brace from Robert Lewandowski, another from Lamine Yamal and a final one from Raphinha. Hansi Flick's team were completely superior and have extended their lead at the top of LaLiga, being even more leader after eleven games.

There are several key reasons for this rout, as Barça has managed to overcome poor refereeing and some dubious decisions that could have kept them out of the Clásico.

Lewandowski is in top form

No one can stop him. Another game with goals from Lewandowski, the top scorer in this league. While Mbappé was unable to overtake Iñaki Peña, the Polish striker managed to score a double and even had the chance to score two more.

Lewandowski once again lived up to expectations: after a great game against Bayern, he excelled against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabéu.

Szczęsny's arrival had raised doubts and many assumed that Iñaki Peña would leave the starting lineup. After two important games, the youth-team player has responded wonderfully, especially against Real Madrid.

Iñaki Peña only conceded goals from offside, which were not counted on the scoreboard. He stopped several one-on-one encounters with Mbappé and was safe between the posts.

Hansi Flick knows how to make changes

He had a bad feeling about Barça in the first half and didn't hold back. At half-time, Fermín came off and De Jong came on. The Dutchman had more control of the ball and was good in counterattacking and defensive work.

Then, at the right moment, Dani Olmo also came on, key to carrying out some offensive actions.

Advanced defense

Many people doubted whether Hansi Flick would push his defense so far forward against Real Madrid, but the German wasn't afraid. The Whites were constantly caught offside and the only goal they scored was ruled out for illegal position.

Barça had their line practically in the centre of the field and managed to prevent any kind of surprise from Madrid.

Barça didn't fall into the trap

Sánchez Martínez tried repeatedly, but Barça knew how to stay calm and not fall into the trap. He rushed the game, quickly gave out yellow cards and Real Madrid forgave him practically everything.

But Hansi Flick's Barcelona were different: far from falling into the trap that the referee had intended, they continued with their game and ended up beating Real Madrid 0-4.
