Marc-André ter Stegen hasn't dodged the rumors. After several days of speculation about his possible departure from Barça and the arrival of Joan García, the German goalkeeper has been blunt: he will continue defending the culé goal.
From the training camp with the Germany national team, the goalkeeper took advantage of a press conference to clarify his position. He doesn't want to fuel false expectations or leave any room for doubt. His commitment to the blaugrana club is total.
Rumors that don't affect him
The last few days have been full of uncertainty. Joan García, current Espanyol goalkeeper, has been strongly linked as a possible addition to FC Barcelona. Some have even suggested that this would open the door for Ter Stegen to leave this very summer.

However, the German international has wanted to put an end to the speculation. "No one from the club has spoken to me about this possibility," he said calmly. "I'm not worried at all because I know that next season I'll be at Barcelona," he added firmly.
Convinced of his continuity
Ter Stegen appeared calm, confident, and focused on what's coming. "I'm very excited for next season," he explained. He believes the team has grown and that, with the experience they've gained, they can achieve great things.
At 32 years old, Ter Stegen still feels strong, useful, and eager to compete. "I always want to give my all and be on the field. I'll do everything I can to achieve that in the future and as long as I keep playing," he stated with conviction.

A direct message to the competition
The goalkeeper also wanted to send a message to whoever comes, without directly naming Joan García. Ter Stegen isn't afraid of competition, but he doesn't seek it either. For him, what's important is that everyone contributes.
"As far as I know, next season only Iñaki and I will be goalkeepers, so the competition will be between us," he explained. He clarified: "If a new player arrives, he'll face the same competition; it's the nature of playing at a great club."
At Barça and without doubts
With these statements, the German shields himself. Joan García may sign, or not, but Ter Stegen has already made it clear that he's not leaving, not now. His place is still Camp Nou.
His contract, his experience, and his role as one of the captains in the locker room make him an essential pillar and he doesn't seem willing to give up that place.
