Robert Lewandowski has begun his third triumphant season at Barça. And Laporta has yet to pay the full price for his transfer.
The staggering sum of 22,628,464 million euros still remains to be paid.
Only Half of "Operation: Lewandowski" has been Paid
The situation is so paradoxical that Lewandowski will soon leave the club and retire (he is now 36 years old). And Barça will still be paying for his transfer.
And the most curious thing is that three years later, half of the total cost of the operation (45 million) still remains to be paid.
Laporta was only able to sign him three years ago, paying by installments. And he continues to pay, both in the short and long term.
Bayern Munich is owed €21 million; Borussia Dortmund, €156,000; Legia Warsaw, €100,000; Lech Poznan, €238,000; Delta Warsaw, €66,000; Znicz, €226,000; and MKS Warsaw, €338,000.
Seven teams are waiting for Laporta's wallet. The issue is going to be a long one. And Lewandowski is not the only one.
Barça must pay 45 million euros in the short term for transfers made in the past that have not yet been settled and, in addition, 102.6 million euros for the same reason, but in the long term.
Koundé and Ferran Aren't Paid Either
Jules Koundé is in the same situation as Lewandowski. Sevilla will receive a long-term payment of 24.5 million euros, which are still outstanding. Girondins and La Brede will also receive a fee.
According to its annual report, Barcelona owes Manchester City 26 million euros for Ferran Torres,13 million in the short term and 13 million in the long term. And there's also a small debt with Valencia.
For Vítor Roque, 11.8 million euros are still to be paid in the short term and 7 in the long term. Money is also owed for Gerard Martín (Cornellà) and Unai Hernández (Girona): 75,000 and 100,000 euros respectively.
These are the disadvantages of buying in installments due to a lack of liquidity and waiting for income that doesn't always arrive.
The transfer window is dragging on and the Lewandowski case is perhaps the most shocking one. He will have left Barça and it will still be years before his transfer is finalized.
