Neither Joan García nor Ter Stegen, Deco chooses Barça's new goalkeeper: OK from Hansi Flick

FC Barcelona is already planning the future of its goalkeeping, with a signing advocated by Deco and approved by Hansi Flick

In the midst of planning the squad for the next season, Barça has uncertainty in a key position: the goalkeeping. Both in terms of the present and looking to the future, there are many doubts regarding the direction of this position. Ter Stegen is already 33 years old and his recent performance, along with his injury history, is not positive at all. To this, one must add the uncertainty about Szczesny's continuity, who has the possibility of renewing on the table.

There has been a lot of rumors lately. Many reports point to Joan García, the Catalan goalkeeper from Espanyol, but it seems that the plans are going in another direction. At the moment, the blanquiazul team, Barcelona's great rival, refers to his clause of 25 million euros, which could drop to 15 "kilos" in case of relegation.

Joan García doesn't fully generate consensus at Barça, who, moreover, has sparked great interest from Premier League clubs. In this scenario, Deco has analyzed all the options and seems to have a clear idea of who should be the next Barça goalkeeper.

Deco points him out and Hansi Flick agrees: Lucas Chevalier, the chosen one

At 23 years old, Lucas Chevalier has become Barça's great object of desire for their goalkeeping. He currently plays for Lille, where he is under contract until 2027. If Szczesny stays, Madrid-Barcelona has learned that his signing will be considered next season. By 2026, he could be available at an economical price and at a good age, capable of being Barcelona's goalkeeper for the next decade.

Speaking on RAC1, Deco already hinted at this: "Within one or two years, Barça will need to have another goalkeeper. I have very little idea about goalkeepers, but Joan García is good".

The problem is that, within a year, Joan García will have already moved on, and the idea is clear: the main target is Lucas Chevalier. In fact, Chevalier is aware of Barça's interest and is willing to wait. At the moment, he is valued at about 30 million euros, a price that would be reduced as he approaches the end of his contract with Lille.

Lucas Chevalier, the goalkeeper of the future

Lucas Chevalier has become one of the great revelations of European soccer. At just 23 years old, the Lille goalkeeper is proving that he has everything necessary to be the goalkeeper of the future. His security under the posts, his agility, and his ability to react in key moments have led him to establish himself as one of the most important players in Ligue 1.

This season, Chevalier has played a total of 48 official matches, in which he has conceded 53 goals. Very positive numbers that reflect his constant growth and his enormous maturity despite his youth. Additionally, he has already been drafted to the French national team, which reinforces his projection as one of the possible heirs to the French goal in the medium term.

In Lille, it is already assumed that it won't be long before he makes the leap to a larger club. Chevalier aims high and it is no coincidence that he is on the agenda of several European giants, prioritizing Barça.
