He Gave His Word to Florentino but Flick Drops the Bomb: 'He Wants to Come to Barça'

At Barça, he's considered more than a transfer because otherwise Florentino will keep him.

Real Madrid has been chasing Alphonso Davies for months, if not years. The Canadian full-back from Bayern Munich is considered the best in the world in his position.

Davies's contract expires on June 30 and he hasn't reached an agreement with Bayern over a renewal. He's asking for a 15 million transfer bonus and 10 million net per year for a four-year contract.

Real Madrid is Counting on Davies for Next Season

As part of its policy of attracting talent at zero cost, Real Madrid contacted the player. They guaranteed him a place on its team if he didn't reach an agreement with Bayern.

Florentino was willing to pay him what Bayern refused to pay if he accepted their offer. However, nothing can be made official until January 1st. This is the date when FIFA allows clubs to contact players who are six months away from the end of their contracts.

Everyone assumed that Davies would end up at Real Madrid. He and Trent Alexander-Arnold would, occupying the right-back position shared with Carvajal.

However, Laporta has found that Davies hasn nothing signed with Real Madrid. Furthermore, he would prefer to sign for Barça if the Catalonian club solves its problems with its wage bill.

Flick Reveals Davies's Preferences

It was Hansi Flick who raised the alarm after having a conversation with his former disciple. The fact that Flick is the Barça coach has had an influence. But so has the shake-ups that Barça has inflicted on Bayern and Real Madrid in the last week.

The Canadian full-back was an admirer of Barça's style of play during the Pep Guardiola era and would be proud to play for them.

Barça already knoww that they can dress Davies in blue and red. Now it's time to do the math with the new Nike contract, the return to Camp Nou and the planned transfer of Ronald Araújo.

The fact that Davies has been agreed to join Real Madrid increases the demand of this transfer. If Real Madrid also wants him, it would be more than just a transferfor Laporta. Although he has Flick's blessing, his own career supports his level of being part of a winning team.
