Hansi Flick has no intention of signing him for Barça. While there has been much talk about his possible return, the reality is that the German coach doesn't see a comeback for Mingueza, who has excelled this season at Celta. He values him as a footballer but believes that there are other more attractive, and cheaper, options on the market.
Barça has seriously considered the option of bringing Mingueza back. At the time of his sale, the Catalonian club kept 50% of his rights in the event of a possible sale.
Standing out this season with Celta, it seems that his release clause has become a bargain. Mingueza can leave for 20 million euros to any team (the clause offering the possibility of his return to Barça was only worth 10 million). A real bargain, as defined by the Catalonian team itself.
However, Hansi Flick has been clear about Mingueza's hypothetical return. The right flank of the defense is for Jules Kounde, while his replacement is Hector Fort. It's a completely unnecessary transfer and he prefers that this possible money be dedicated exclusively to other footballers.
Mingueza is Ruled out: Deco Already Knows
Hansi Flick's decision is firm and he's confirmed it on several occasions to the sporting director, Deco. Mingueza has no place in Barcelona, so that money would be better spent on other players. In addition, Barcelona could also get something from his hypothetical sale.
Celta is willing to let the Catalan defender go for 20 million euros, the price of his release clause. Half of this hypothetical exit would end up directly in Barça's pockets: 10 million euros.
Flick is certain that he only wants to strengthen his central defense. Mingueza has no place for him and he prefers a compatriot like Jonathan Tah. His contract end on 30 June and he could arrive on a free transfer from Leverkusen.
The option of Mingueza has been ruled out by the blaugrana. Hansi Flick has decided and confirmed it to Deco: the case is completely closed. It's not expected that this interest can be resumed, since there's no longer any kind of interest from Barça.
