FC Barcelona keeps planning its squad for next season. After making three signings, the plan now is to finalize some departures before the starting whistle in LaLiga. There have been many names on the table, and many of them have had to be ruled out due to the very high level currently present in the first team.
Green light for Girona
"Marca" has revealed in recent hours that Girona has sped up negotiations to finalize the signing of Mika Mármol. The Catalan currently plays for Las Palmas, but he was trained at La Masia. At the time, Barça couldn't find a place for him in the first team and gave him the green light to first go to Andorra. What it always wanted was to keep half of his future sale.
Now he has spent a few years at Las Palmas and Barça still keeps 50% of his future sale. Girona is willing to pay his release clause, intending to pay in the coming days €10 million.
Of these €10 million ($10.9 million) that Mika Mármol will cost Girona, the blaugrana side will get half: €5 million ($5.45 million). This is a figure viewed very favorably from the offices at Camp Nou, as it will help achieve the goal of returning to the 1:1 financial "fair play" in Spain.

Gerard Martín has prevented his return
The truth is that Mika Mármol's name has been on Barça's agenda for a long time. His progress in Gran Canaria has been monitored, but his return to Camp Nou has been rejected. He is a player who is liked, but whose role is already filled in the first team by Gerard Martín.
Although Martín raised doubts at the start of last season, he gradually showed his best level. He is a left-back with a defensive profile, to whom Hansi Flick has found another use. This preseason, he has been successfully converted into a left-sided center-back, providing many guarantees in the defensive line.

Precisely, Mika Mármol occupies the same positions as the blaugrana defender: he can play both as a center-back and as a left-back. With this in mind, Girona has been given the green light to pay the youth player's clause, opting to collect €5 million ($5.45 million) without lifting a finger.
This way, Mika Mármol will now play for Girona and Gerard Martín will continue wearing Barça's jersey. This is a plan considered perfect at Spotify Camp Nou.
