Fabrizio Romano has confirmed it: goodbye to Barça, Hansi Flick already knows the latest update

Hansi Flick has lost his favorite: he will not sign with FC Barcelona and already knows where he will play next season

FC Barcelona has considered several names to strengthen its squad this summer. Hansi Flick is playing a key role in the planning led by Deco, but, this time, his opinion hasn't carried the desired weight. There has been much talk about the possible arrival of Ivan Perisic at Barça, to the point that there have been firm talks, but Fabrizio Romano has already revealed his next destination.

Ivan Perisic, not to Barça: renews with PSV

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Ivan Perisic has decided to renew with PSV, something that Madrid-Barcelona had already reported. The Croatian winger has reached an agreement to continue there, having received a proposal to extend his contract for two more seasons. There are minor details left to clarify, although they won't pose any problem for the final agreement.

With its full focus on the arrival of Nico Williams, Barça has set aside Perisic. Although it was a personal proposal from Hansi Flick, the reality is that the Croatian never quite fit in. He has always been seen as an added complement to a major signing, but never as a first option.

He hasn't lost his touch

At 36 years old, Ivan Perisic has shown that he remains a top-level winger. This past season with PSV has been one of the most productive of his career, recording 16 goals and 11 assists in 39 matches. Far from fading, the Croatian has shown he still has plenty left in the tank, providing quality, leadership, and an ability to decide matches that few veteran wingers still possess.

His name has once again been strongly mentioned in the offices of European soccer, and it's no coincidence that Hansi Flick, current coach of FC Barcelona, has kept him in mind. The two coincided at Bayern Munich during the historic 2019/2020 season, when the Bavarian side won the treble: Bundesliga, Cup, and Champions League. Perisic was a key player for Flick, scoring important goals and adapting to the tactical demands of the German coach.

The connection between the two was total, and their mutual knowledge could have opened a new opportunity in LaLiga. With his experience, versatility, and competitive mentality, Perisic remains a valuable piece for any ambitious project. Nevertheless, Barça's lack of movement has ultimately led to his renewal with PSV: it's a move that's now completely ruled out.
