Decision Made! There’s No Turning Back: Ter Stegen Sets a Condition to Leave Barça

The FC Barcelona captain will accept a departure as long as the only condition he has set for Deco is met

There's little time left before preseason starts and there still haven't been any developments regarding Ter Stegen's departure. The German hasn't kept in touch with anyone from Barça who has informed him that they don't count on him, but he has accepted it. Although he will show up intending to fight for the starting spot, he understands that Joan García has come to be untouchable and he will find it difficult to get minutes.

With the situation as it is, it seems that the German, under contract until 2028, has started to open the door to his exit. It won't be easy, though. He has one of the highest salaries on the squad and he won't make things easy, having set a key condition to accept his departure.

Ter Stegen's condition to leave Barça

Ter Stegen is very angry, both with the presidency and the sporting management of FC Barcelona. What has happened after a year injured he considers a betrayal. They never communicated the plans to him and, to this day, he still doesn't know anything. He has been hurt by the intentional leaks that have occurred to make him look like the villain.

For this reason, considering that he believes they haven't been upfront with him, the German won't make things easy. Sport has revealed that he's only willing to leave if he's paid all the money he's owed in the three remaining years of his contract.

On the table, Barça would only be willing to offer him the salary for one of those years. But that's not enough for Ter Stegen, who doesn't intend to forgive a single cent.

Offers for Ter Stegen

Ter Stegen is going through one of the most uncertain moments since his arrival at FC Barcelona. At 33 years old, the German goalkeeper is still an emblem in the Barça locker room... but the club's latest moves indicate that his role in the team could change drastically heading into next season.

The arrival of Joan García, a goalkeeper from Espanyol, has created strong competition for the starting spot. In addition, the club has already agreed to renew Szczesny, who would remain as the second goalkeeper... a role that could relegate Ter Stegen to the bench if a clear solution isn't found. To this situation is added the emergence of Diego Kochen, a young prospect who will alternate between the reserve team and the first team.

Barça has made it clear that it would be willing to listen to offers for Ter Stegen this summer. However, the German has already rejected offers from clubs like Galatasaray or Monaco, reaffirming his desire to continue at Camp Nou. With a valid contract and a very important role in the squad, Ter Stegen's future will depend on how the market develops... and on his own decision.
