Confirmed! Deco Makes a Decision Given Ferran Torres’s Performance: Goodbye Barça

Ferran Torres's enormous performance entails definitively discarding a signing that was on the table

Barça has been preparing for a change in the attack front, and it seems they may have found the solution... even if only temporarily.  Ferran Torres is responding wonderfully and is considered to deserve an opportunity for the next season. His great performance has led Deco to definitively rule out signing a center forward, now focusing on other positions.

Ferran Torres Unveils His Most Scoring Version

At 25 years old, the Valencian is experiencing his best season since he arrived at FC Barcelona. He has played 42 matches so far, almost all of them coming off the bench. So far,  he has scored 18 goals and provided 4 assists, which means he contributes with a goal every 92 minutes. These figures are attention-grabbing and increase his importance in the next Barça.

He arrived in 2022 for 55 million, being a highly criticized signing. But the truth is that Ferran Torres has unveiled his best version since Flick's arrival on the bench. He can occupy both wings of the attack, as well as the center forward position, where he is reliably replacing the veteran Lewandowski. The confidence is total, to the point that Madrid-Barcelona can confirm that  negotiations are underway for his contract renewal, which ends in 2027.

Jonathan David: From Offered to Discarded

In recent months, Barça has seriously considered the possibility of signing a '9'. On Deco's table was an option that was very appealing, especially because of his price: that of  Jonathan David. The Lille forward, 25 years old,  becomes a free agent on June 30 and could have arrived for free. In this regard, his dream has always been to wear the blaugrana, having personally offered himself.

The problem at FC Barcelona is that  the investment that would have had to be made in his salary and signing bonus was too high, which raised doubts. To make matters worse,  he didn't quite generate cohesion in the sports management led by Deco.

All this, combined with Ferran Torres's outstanding performance in the '9' position, has led Barça to make this decision. Jonathan David has been discarded, while it is expected to renew the Valencian to reward him for his great play. Next season he will remain in the Catalan team, and it is expected that he will gain even more importance in Hansi Flick's plans.
