Confirmed! Laporta Secures the New Robert Lewandowski for 2026: ‘An Electoral Asset’

Joan Laporta postpones the signing of a 'top-tier' number 9 and will use it as a trump card for the elections in 2026

Joan Laporta is already thinking about FC Barcelona's future... and also his personal future. The current president plans to use a high-impact signing to secure reelection in the 2026 elections. The chosen one is none other than Julián Álvarez, the Argentine forward currently playing for Atlético de Madrid.

Laporta knows that Barcelona will need a big name to reignite the fans' excitement and believes that Julián Álvarez perfectly fits that profile. His youth, hunger for titles, and goal-scoring instinct would be ideal to lead the new Barça project. Additionally, his signing would come at a key moment: right before the elections, thus increasing Laporta's chances of remaining at the helm of the club.

Julián Álvarez: A High-Profile Signing

Currently, Julián Álvarez is shining at Atlético de Madrid, but Barça is already working behind the scenes to convince the player and his entourage. The Barça president wants to repeat the strategy he used in the past with other stars and is willing to make a significant financial effort to bring the Argentine to Camp Nou.

Laporta has already explored the conditions of a possible operation. The Argentine forward is under contract until 2030 with Atlético, but Barça is confident that the player's will could be key to facilitating his departure. Julián Álvarez would be delighted to wear the Barça jersey and lead a great project alongside, among others, Lamine Yamal.

Laporta: The Strong Favorite for the Upcoming Elections

Laporta's strategy is clear: secure a game-changer for the upcoming elections. In 2026, FC Barcelona's members will vote again, and a signing like Julián Álvarez's could be decisive in tipping the balance in his favor. At the moment, it seems he is well-positioned to be reelected... but it never hurts to have an extra card up his sleeve.

For now, no agreement has been finalized, but conversations are ongoing, and the plan is in motion. Laporta is betting heavily on bringing in an established star and knows that Julián could be the perfect signing to ensure his continuity at the club.

Looking ahead to the upcoming elections, it's clear that Laporta intends to be reelected because he is already making moves for it. There will be other familiar faces in the race, such as Víctor Font, who is, in principle, the current president's main rival. The fate of Joan Camprubí, one of the opposition leaders, is uncertain: he was poised to lead a project, but Madrid-Barcelona has learned that this is now in doubt. Attention will also need to be paid to other names like Marc Ciria or Lluís Carrasco
