Breaking News: Olmo to Leave Barça for Free if He is Not Registered by Midnight

Olmo won't be able to be registered again with the same team for this season if the unregistration occurs today.

Dani Olmo's situation comes with a series of doubts as everyone waits for Joan Laporta to be able to solve it.

If Dani Olmo's registration is canceled from LaLiga at midnight, he won't be able to be registered with the same team this season.

Toni Freixa is a former director, former candidate for Barça's presidency and a lawyer by profession. He caused false hopes with a tweet stating: "tomorrow the deadline to avoid unregistration ends. The registration deadline ends on January 31."

The opinion of lawyer Freixa has been discredited by the same social networks:

According to section 141.5 of the RFEF "players whose license is canceled shall not, during the same season, obtain a license with the same team."

In other words, if Joan Laporta doesn't prevent Dani Olmo from being left without registration before midnight today, he won't be able to continue playing with Barça.

Does the Unregistration Affect LaLiga or All Competitions?

It affects all competitions. To participate in the Super Cup, the UEFA Cup and the Champions League, the player must be registered in the Professional League of his country. Otherwise, Dani Olmo won't be able to play any competition with Barça.

Would Dani Olmo Really be Free and Able to Leave for Free?

This is stated in the contract Dani Olmo signed with Barça this summer. In fact, it was already known in July that Barça had problems registering its players. Even Nico Williams was eager to sign for Barça because Laporta couldn't register him.

Olmo was aware of the situation and wanted to be cautious. The law would allow him to be free to negotiate with another club, demanding Barça pay him every last euro stipulated in his contract.

While he can do it, whether he wants to is a different story. Dani Olmo is a Barcelona fan and won't act against the interests of a club.

If Laporta isn't able to solve the case today, it is most likely that Dani Olmo will end the season on loan to another team, waiting to return next summer.
