Pau Cubarsí and Lamine Yamal in the foreground with serious faces

18-Year-Old Named Jan to Play with Lamine Yamal in Months: Pau Cubarsí is Amazed

The young soccer player dreams of shining in FC Barcelona's first team and is currently on the right track.

FC Barcelona has always been a benchmark in developing young talent. In recent years, it has committed to a clear policy of growth and trust in its homegrown players. Eventually, the club transformed some of them into key pieces of the first team.

Examples of this commitment are Marc Casadó and Pau Cubarsí, who have quickly become key players for Hansi Flick. Now, a new name joins this list, promising to shine in the near future.

The Rise of a New Star

Jan Virgili, an 18-year-old winger from Vilassar de Mar, has been one of FC Barcelona's revelations in the UEFA Youth League. He arrived last summer from Nàstic de Tarragona, where he dazzled in the National League with his outstanding performance.

Moving to Barça seemed logical and the young talent hasn't disappointed at any time. In the Youth League group stage, Juliano Haus Belleti's team, with Virgili as a key player, secured 15 out of 18 possible points. Barça defeated Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, and Red Star in Belgrade.

A Standout Player

Virgili has stood out for his great technical ability, speed, and knack for deciding matches. Against Borussia Dortmund, he provided an assist to Landry Farré and then scored a stunning goal after a powerful and precise zig-zag. With two goals and three assists in six matches, he's become one of the most decisive players in the youth academy.

His progress has been so remarkable that he's already trained several times with Barça Atlètic, although he hasn't officially debuted yet. Even coach Hansi Flick called him to train with the first team, a clear sign of the quality he's showing.

The Future and Interest from Other Clubs

Virgili's outstanding performances haven't gone unnoticed, with several clubs showing interest in the winger, aware of his enormous potential. FC Barcelona has expressed its intention to retain him with a 1+2-year contract that could be enforced before the end of the season. The relationship with the club is excellent and everything points to Virgili soon being in the first team with Lamine Yamal.

Pau Cubarsí, a fellow generation mate, doesn't hesitate to affirm that Virgili's future is promising. In a few months, this young talent could become an important piece in Hansi Flick's team, following in the footsteps of other homegrown players who have excelled in the first team.
