In 2024, Toni Kroos received the prestigious Golden Player Man award, a recognition for the most outstanding players of the year. In his interview with Tuttosport, Kroos talked about his arrival at Real Madrid in 2014 and his relationship with Carlo Ancelotti.

"He loved me very much after the World Cup. They had just won the Champions League and he told me he wanted to take the team to the next level," the German explained.

Although leaving Bayern Munich to join the merengue club wasn't easy, Ancelotti's support was crucial. "It wasn't easy, but he made things easier for me and motivated me."

For Kroos, the relationship with Ancelotti has always been special, something that marked both his arrival and departure from Madrid. "I like that my time at Madrid started and ended with him," he said, referring to his retirement in 2024 alongside Ancelotti.

Ancelotti's Return to Madrid

One of the most unexpected moments for Kroos was Ancelotti's return to Real Madrid in 2021. Although many players in the locker room already had experience with the Italian coach, the German admitted that the coach's return was a surprise.

"To be fair, we didn't expect it, but it was great news for all of us," Kroos stated. Ancelotti's return was met with enthusiasm by veterans like Dani Carvajal, Marcelo, Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos, and Nacho, who had already worked with him during his first stint.

Possible Destinations in Italy

During the interview, Kroos also confessed that he received offers from Italian clubs during his time at Madrid. "There was interest from Serie A teams, but I never thought about leaving Real Madrid. I've always liked Italian soccer, but Real is Real," he explained. He thus stressed that his commitment to the merengue club was never in doubt.

However, when asked about an Italian club he would like to play for, Kroos was open.

"It's hard to choose one because I don't know the environment well, but right now I wouldn't mind being at Inter. They play with confidence and calmness, dominating the game. They're really strong," he stated, showing his appreciation for the soccer practiced by the nerazzurri team.

Ancelotti: the Smile of a Mentor

Throughout his career, Kroos has shown great respect for Ancelotti, a coach who trusted him from the very beginning. This bond has been key not only in his arrival at Madrid but also in his farewell to professional soccer.

For Ancelotti, Kroos's confirmation that his time at Real Madrid was always linked to his figure can only bring a smile. A shared legacy that will endure in the history of the club.
